ASUS ROG GL703GE EC and BIOS dump needed (DABKNBMB8D0)

Need both BIOS dump and EC dump for the DABKNBMB8D0 REV. D laptop.

Bit of a history on the board:
Audio codec ALC295 removed as it was getting hot, no improvement.
Already tried it with one unverified BIOS and it didn't work. No reaction on power button press. 3.3V LDO present. No shorts. Sometimes it kinda starts, but only partially (5V and 3.3V and 1.05V present, no other rails/VCOREs). Won't charge the battery either - battery charges fine on other board. No activity on charger IC data lines also.

EC is next suspect, but would also need to find a way to flash it (ITE 8587E). Only have CH341 and TL866II at the moment.

Thanks, will try this. What programmer do you recommend for ECs?

Thank you. I can borrow a RT809H in a day or two. Any info on how to hook it up to the EC?

Looks like the connection is via the keyboard cable slot.

Re: ASUS ROG GL703GE EC and BIOS dump needed (DABKNBMB8D0)

Hey, finally got the RT809F that I ordered few months ago. I also got the PEB-1 expansion board for it.

The RT809F itself works fine, with it I reprogrammed KB9022 on 2 boards so far.
But the PEB-1 with IT8987 on this board it is giving me nothing but frustration.
For 4 straight hours I troubleshooted it with no avail. I first soldered the new IT8987 on the ITE Adapter board that plugs into a PEB-1.
Got the "Chip failed enter into the ISP status, operation terminated." every time I wanted to read it or do anything else with it.

I then resoldered the chip on the board, and the board actually powers on (kinda), CPU and GPU gets hot, but there is no image and no activity on the USB. Also no battery charging. There is possibility that the EC I put on was pulled from some board that already has some code in it. Or there is some other problem and the EC got flashed from the main BIOS and there is nothing wrong with it.

I then discovered that there is a debug port near the EC that accepts the 24-pin flat cable. Again, I connected it, set the lines on the RT809F (triple checked them). Did all the right things (connected the ground wire), plugged the board in, etc.
And I am still getting the darned: "Chip failed enter into the ISP status, operation terminated." in RT809F program.

Any suggestions why it is failing the detection? I am suspecting the PEB-1 board, but can't prove it.
The reason I replaced the EC on the first time is that it was getting slightly warm, but there is a chance it was fine, just flashed with some wrong program.

                Thanks

Re: ASUS ROG GL703GE EC and BIOS dump needed (DABKNBMB8D0)

Any luck with the board. I got 5 of those board that I have to work with. Will get the programmer tomorrow. I do have the original BIOS on 2 other functional working motherboards.

Funny enough even though the motherboards are the same model and revision, they have 3 different bios chips! That's nuts. Am I looking at the wrong component?

Here is a board diagram that I found out https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...ht=DABKNBMB8D0

The chips that the board has are the following 3:

                  Board model: DABKNBMB8D0 Rev. D
                  Windbond W25Q128JVSQ
                  Gigadevice:25B127DSIG
MACRONIX: Can't find the board, Will look it up later.

MSI PRO B660M-G DDR4 - real bios dump from board needed (no stock bios)
                      by DynaxSC
Hi, I have an MSI PRO B660M-G DDR4 board with damaged BIOS and i need a bios dump from a real board, along with MAC, UUID and Serial Number info (eg. a BIOS screenshot and pictures from the board stickers).

I need to reconstruct the bios on my board, based on another bios image form a real board - meaning a bios image containing MAC address, UUID and Serial number. A stock BIOS is not suffiecient, as it is impossible to discover where the MAC, UUID and SerialNumber are stored. Tried with a similar board, but there are too much differences, and the stock BIOS is missing a lot of...

Razer RZ09-01682 Blade Stealth 13 2016 BIOS dump needed
                      by vinaypundith
I have this laptop that does boot but it's on an older BIOS that has issues with Secure Boot, and I cannot use the normal Razer BIOS updater because for some reason the serial number is missing / got deleted somehow (Common issue on this model, from what I've read). I got a dump of the BIOS chip (or at least what I think is the BIOS chip), and its 16MB in size - the files from the Razer BIOS update are 8MB. (There's two 8MB files, am I supposed to combine these somehow? Or combine with an Intel ME firmware? I have no idea).
So, I'm looking for a BIOS dump for this machine - a 16MB one....

I need a BIOS dump for the Samsung S49CG934SU monitor
                      by Habble7
The Samsung S49CG934SU monitor does not power on - no LED indicator activity and no response to power button. However, when 21V power is connected, it immediately draws 0.8A of current with no display output. The motherboard processor gets warm, and there is continuous reading activity from the W25Q128BV BIOS chip.

                      Suspected Cause:
I suspect the BIOS may have been corrupted during a power interruption while updating the firmware. The official website provides firmware updates, but they can only be installed via USB flash drive.

                      Troubleshooting Attempts:
                      ...

Hi all! I was reading on tutorials how to flash a bios to remove password from a bios, and I ended up reading the EC chip instead of the main bios chip, it only gave me a .bin file of 1,024kb, I learned later that that is the EC chip not the main bios chip (I should have read the tutorials here instead before attempting anything, my bad), I went to flash the original backup, the 1,024kb size file into the same chip and laptop is not powering up anymore. I may have screwed the chip or even the motherboard (Hopefully not), I am trying to see if there is a fix before I discard it. I had a couple...
