use RCUnlocker on the 16 MB bios (look for the 16 MB chip on both sides of the board), don't forget to make a copy of the bios before writing..

mine is 32MB size. only one bios chip i found in this 840-G6 laptop.

use RCUnlocker on the 16 MB bios (look for the 16 MB chip on both sides of the board), don't forget to make a copy of the bios before writing..

Hello to all,
I am new here and maybe I am in the wrong thread.

I try to unlock the Bios PW from a HP 840 G6. I could work with the Notebook with installing OSes , a new SSD and RAM. All works fine. But I cannot reach the BIOS-Setup. So I unsoldered the Winbond 25Q256JVEN and backed up the content three times. MD5sum is identical. Made a "unlocked" BIN-file with HP-Unlocker. After resolder my patient is "dead".

Questions: 1) Where can I buy new W25Q256JVEN-Chips and at what price?
2) Do I need the 2nd Chip?
