HP 840 G5 EndPoint Security Controller Problem

Re: HP 840 G5 EndPoint Security Controller Problem
Thanks for explaining the procedure of fixing the EC firmware. Worked for me to fix the "endpoint security controller" problem. You used the bios of another machine, so in the 32MB bios file, there is MPM information of that device and it has enabled the "security endpoint". I rebuilt the new 32MB bios file, cleaned the ME region.
With the 16MB file, I deleted the first NvramActiveRegn region.
But now you may have trouble with MPM again.
To elaborate, this machine (HP Probook 440 G7) had its EC firmware corrupted which in turn caused persistent BIOS corruption. So besides re-building the BIOS image, I had to replace the EC firmware with a "foreign" one (from vinafix), but then I ran into the Security Endpoint issue. Eventually I removed the first NvramActiveRegn from the foreign firmware, and replaced the 2nd NvramActiveRegn instance with a copy from the original EC firmware, and then it was fixed. I also had to reset Secure Boot keys to factory defaults, otherwise the machine refused to boot with Secure Boot turned on.
I wonder how you knew to remove the 1st NvramActiveRegn to fix that?Comment

Hi, i am having a problem with a 840 g5 motherboard (6050A2945601-MB-A01, sn:5CG91751R4) The bios and ec have been already tampered with, so there are no original files. actually the notebook doesn't even show post with the files written in them. so, i tried a few pairs of bioses. with the majority of them it gives the "endpoint security error" issue that appear resolved with only one 32mb file but the ethernet has an error in device manager, device cannot start. even tried modifying Pcie slot in Fitc. didn't work. don't know why. the ethernet work with the ones with endpoint security. please help me resolve my issue. i attached the files that work but give endpoint error. thank you!Attached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

The device had bootloop issues. I reprogrammed the EC BIOS and the main BIOS, extracted from an HP 440 G8 with the same motherboard, and I was able to start the device. However, every time I turn it on, I get the error 'There is a problem with the HP Endpoint Security Controller in the unit.' I tried disabling several security options in the BIOS, but the error still appears. Additionally, when I attempt to update the BIOS, both BIOS chips get corrupted again....03-10-2025, 07:12 AM -

by Voyager65Hi all,
I got a used HP and see this well known HP Endpoint Security Problem Screen. Someone seems to have removed the password and reflashed the bios with (maybe) a wrong serial etc.. I was able to read and write with my programmer a new bios onto it - same problem. I tried a downgrade, same.
I did password removal wir rcunlocker on several other machines without any problem. But this one is/was killed before. Appreciate any help.
