Thank you Vesko. I've done as you've said in https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...itebook-845-g9. Appreciate the pointers.

You can continue "investigating" off course, but there's no such tool. Dump your bios and upload the file to the existing HP EliteBook 845 G9 thread, and someone will do the unlock for you.

Hi folks,
I'm just getting started with bios flashing. I'm looking into removing a password from an HP elitebook 845 G9. Looking at the motherboard, the most likely chip I've found so far is a MX25L25673GZ4I-08G, an SPI 32MB NOR flash chip. Has anyone used RCUnlocker with these 32MB chips? Perusing this thread, it seems like RCUnlocker has the limitation of only working with 16MB bioses? Should I be investigating an alternative tool for removing the password from this chip?
Thanks you.

Hi Everyone.
Probably a dumb question, but I'm gonna ask it anyway, just to be sure.
I have a HP Elitebook 840 G5 with a BIOS admin password that I wanted to unlock. I've reviewed the instructions on the forum thread and I downloaded the contents of the EC chip (W25Q128JV), several copies to make sure it's not corrupted. I ran the file it through RCUnlocker, and I get the following confirmation screen at the end:
It's a bit different from the screens I saw other people posting (such as in post #950). More precisely it does not show any of the laptop info such as model, serial number, SKU etc. However it does say that the bios is unlocked, creates the unlocked file and I don't get any errors. I opened the original file and the unlocked one in a hex editor and I can find all the relevant info in it by searching the strings. Since I don't want want to make a hasty errors and burn the unlocked bios I got on the chip before I'm sure, I wanted to ask if anyone had a similar experience with RCUnlocker and if it's maybe something related to the version of the software (I downloaded the one from the link on the first page of the thread) or the specific model of laptop that I have. Or is it an error on my part when reading the chip.1 PhotoLast edited by langbaobao; 12-31-2023, 02:38 PM.

Do I have to unsolder the IC Chip and reprogram it or can I unlock it with RC without soldering? I have an unlocked file, but when opening bios it still asks for password.
