    Lenovo W541 BIOS Chips

Just bought a used Lenovo W541 and it has the supervisor password set. I know I need to copy the BIOS chips. But for the life of me, I can not find the 8-pin chips on the motherboard anywhere.

Supposidly there is a 4MB and an 8MB chip. I've looked this board back to front and even sideways if that would help.

Does anyone have the chip part number or the silkscreen U number that I should look for on the PCB. Even a photo would be greatly appreciated of where these two chips are located.

    Thinkpad W541
    Motherboard model: 20EG
    Bios revision: 2.41

    Thanks for any help,
    Dave

          Found them.

The description and the picture were a great help.

Just didn't realize I had to disassemble the entire board from the magnesium alloy tray. My little piece of cardboard to track the screws now has 31 screws in it.

Now onto fixing the SVP issue.

Thanks to all for the help.

Summary of BIOS Whitelist Removal Problem

            Problem:
I am attempting to remove the WWAN card whitelist from my Lenovo ThinkPad T560.
            Initial Findings:
            • My current BIOS version is N1KET58W (1.45).
            • I have a CH341A programmer and have successfully created two full backups of my BIOS.
            • I have the ability to use command-line tools on a Linux machine.
            Troubleshooting Steps & Conclusions:
            • I attempted to use several automated and manual patching methods on my N1KET58W (1.45) BIOS, including using hex strings. These attempts all failed.
            • I concluded that the

Lenovo Legion Y540 – Need help repairing BIOS after bad downgrade
            by gestalt.exe
            Hi everyone,

My Lenovo Legion Y540 (i7-9750H, RTX 2060) bricked after I downgraded from BHCN44WW to BHCN21WW.
            Laptop stopped booting entirely.

I used a CH341A programmer to dump the corrupted 16MB BIOS.
            i then attempted the following:
            1. Downloaded stock BIOS BHCN39WW from Lenovo
            2. Trimmed it to 16MB
            3. Extracted the BIOS region from the corrupted dump
            4. Extracted the BIOS region from the stock 39WW
            5. Replaced the corrupted BIOS region with the stock one (within hxd , opened the corrupted dump and replaced its region by the stock)
            6. Injected back my LDGB / DMI

Lenovo Legion T5-26AMR5 Desktop - Corrupt BIOS
            by grimacelord
            Hello there.

I am working on a Lenovo Legion T5-26AMR5 desktop that currently has a corrupt BIOS and I have been unsuccessful thus far in trying to fix it myself.

            History:

            1. This computer came to me initially with an error message that said "BiInitializeLibrary failed 0xc0000001" or "0135 fan error". It would always be one of the two errors. It should be noted that when it produced the fan error, there was no physical problem with the fans. They were all spinning just fine.

I searched for this error online and discovered...

Need Clean BIOS/EC Bin File for Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e - Stuck with 0275 Error CMS

            Hello everyone,

I am attempting a repair on a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e that is currently stuck at boot with the error: "0275 error CMS" even after setup new bios battery and will not allow me to enter the BIOS/Setup.

This is a critical issue that I believe requires flashing the BIOS chip directly using a programmer (e.g., CH341A/RT809H), as standard software updates or resets are not possible.

I have opened the laptop and identified the main BIOS chip...

Lenovo IdeaPad 3 - Hard Disk not recognized in BIOS
            by mkdj
            Dear all,

I have recently fixed a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 ALC6 that was not booting due to a BIOS issue. After flashing the BIOS, the laptop boots up, but hard disk is not recognized in BIOS. Is says "Hard Disk : Not Installed". I have tried with 2 different drives (one that I know is working on another laptop) but I get the same result. I do not know if disks were recognized before I got the laptop and fix it, but I don't see any reason why not. I can boot on USB though.

Here the steps I have taken to fix the laptop:
            - downloaded latest BIOS from Lenovo Website...
