Thank you very much peste. This gets way out of the zone of my capabilities. I will just workaround the problem with a USB WIfi stick (Which I already know works. I just thought it was not elegant enough...) Seeing this procedure I am now comfortable with the less elegant version.

Got a used HP Elitebook 855 G7, I noticed MPM errors, bios errors, missing SN, product N, featurebyte and so on. gave seller to fix and collect it after 2days. on receiving the PC I noticed touch-screen not working, when I checked more details, found out it has been given DMI details of HP Elitebook 845 G7, instead of HP Elitebook 855 G7. seller has refused to help further. I need help on this. difference between 845 G7 and 855 G7 is the screen and touch panel (14in vs 15.6in with touch). same bios family S77.

post merged..next time look for a thread with the name and model, motherboard model of the laptop, and post there, if you can't find it, then make a new thread..

the PC is like a factory refurbished, back panel changed, and maybe mobo( not sure). back panel is clean, no DMI details on it. I also did not do a bios backup before giving seller to fix it. any other way to help. thnx

Searching for answers in the group, I found out that I need to unlock BIOS to correct the DMI details.
Please point me to tutorials for dumping BIOS and restoring or flashing the unlocked BIOS file received from BIOS request.

The bios chip must be unsoldered from the board before writing or reading..
do not use the clip, you may have errors..if you do not have anything to unsolder it with,
solder wires between the programmer and the bios chip..
