Hi, I know this is not fully related but I am one of the victims of HP's latest borked update of BIOS which made this laptop unusable.

    More info here: https://www.tomshardware.com/laptops...omatic-updates

The laptop doesn't respond anymore, just full blast of fans without any screen. I am concerned if what I should do to restore this laptop. Upon reading the forum, I am not sure which one of the EC should I re-program for the laptop to be restored. Do you guys have any idea? Thank you.

    I have a Elitebook 820 G1 and a Elitebook 840 G2 here.

These ask for a password when entering the BIOS, but boot just fine from the internal SSD.

    🛠️ MSI GP75 Leopard MS-17E71 – No Display, Deep BIOS/EC Troubleshooting

    Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
    🧩 Initial Issue
    • Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
    • External display (HDMI) shows
