Lenovo E540 - BIOS Supervisor Password

I have been looking all over the internet for a solution to this problem. I bought this laptop and the seller didn't even specify it had a BIOS password which is just frustrating because as a software developer, I must utilize virtual machines in order to generate test environments for my projects and I can't due to the VT-x feature being disabled in the BIOS Setup Utility and on top of that, said settings are locked behind a BIOS supervisor password as stated in the thread's title.

Can anyone help me through this issue? I would appreciate it a lot. Thank you for reading.

The password is stored in a small chip P24S08,24RF08 or similar. You can short 2 pins together to remove it

        1. Turn on the laptop.
        2. As soon as the display turns on, short pins 5 and 6 and keep them shorted.
        3. Hit F1 to open BIOS.
        4. Wait no more than 2-3 seconds and release short. If you wait too long, it's over.
        5. BIOS opens up, you are in.
        6. Go to SVP password, set up a new one and Save&Exit with F10.

Thank you for the very useful information! I will now proceed to unlock my SVP in order to activate Intel's VT-x feature.

Thank you for the quick response and solution!
