    Surface Pro 3 - Don't know the BIOS/UEFI password (Noob)

    Hi,

    I'm setting up a Surface Pro 3 for a friend, I've been able to install the latest version of Windows 10.

    On bootup it shows a red background and the Surface logo, it still boots ok into windows and he can logon.

    I tried to go into the BIOS/UEFI and it asks for a password. My friend doesn't know the password, I can press enter and get limited access.

    Can you please help me with the steps to recover the password so can turn on TPM and Secure boot?

      Use flash programming tool v9. 5 I guess. Command fptw64.exe -bios -d surface.bin and then upload the file here.

                              This model happens to have AMITSESetup section which has weakly encrypted password in it. So just needs to be located and decrypted.

                                  Hi RethoricalCheese, I have experenced the same issue for my surface pro 3. here is the dumped BIN file from my SP3. Would you please help to decode the BIOS password for me? Or would you please go into detail how to decode the password from the BIN file?

                                          peste works hard to help people but in many cases, it's better to work smart.
                                          Modifying surface pro 3 bios is kinda useless because that would mean disassembling and that's way too hard on surfaces.

I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

                                                                                  I'm using TONGFANG "GM7TG7P" model laptop for over 3 years and i'm entering the same bios administrator password everyday. My laptop has Aptio BIOS (American Megatrends, AMI).

                                                                                  But today it's not accepting my password. I'm %100 sure i'm entering the correct password.

                                                                                  I'm trying to reset my bios without success.

                                                                                  I tried :

                                                                                  -I removed the BIOS battery and main battery. Waited for a long time but it didn't work. They already stated in the user manual that the password will not be reset even if the batteries...

It is not a bios reset demand, and i can't have any access to windows. This is the bios and power-on password that is blocking all other things.

                                                                                  My Omen 15-dh0052nf purchased second-hand was configured with the bios password upon purchase (very simple password :P ).

                                                                                  Having decided to sell it in order to get something more powerful, I reset all BIOS settings and set a blank administrator password. But the power-on password cannot be changed to a blank one so I let the actual password set....
