Hello,
I tried to read the BIOS chip from an HP Probook 650 G5 with a tl866ii reader - unfortunately without success. I always get an error message that the chip ID is incorrect. Since I suspected a problem with the reader, I bought a new EPROM of the same design. I can easily read and write this chip with the reader without any error messages. Then I unsoldered the original chip from the board and soldered the new chip on. After restarting the laptop, a BIOS recovery was automatically carried out. After that I could no longer read the new chip. Apparently the chip is changed again in such a way that it cannot be easily read. My question now would be what happened? Since a recovery was carried out, my question would be where is the backup on the motherboard? It can't be on the hard drive because I removed the drive. It would be great if you could help me here.
Thanks and regards

Hello,
yes, of course, sorry.
Unfortunately I currently only have the name HP Probook G5 with the serial number 5CG0359DS5. I couldn't find a number or type designation on the motherboard. But I'll check again to see if I can find anything there. But my main concern was whether there was something known about when the BIOS chip on the laptop itself uses the recovery function to change the chip in such a way that it can no longer be read with an eprom reader.

by NopslideHello everyone, I come here to tell you my problem regarding the power-on password. It is not a bios reset demand, and i can't have any access to windows. This is the bios and power-on password that is blocking all other things.
My Omen 15-dh0052nf purchased second-hand was configured with the bios password upon purchase (very simple password :P ).
Having decided to sell it in order to get something more powerful, I reset all BIOS settings and set a blank administrator password. But the power-on password cannot be changed to a blank one so I let the actual password set....-
