HP Elite X2 bios

Hi all,

Looking for a clean BIOS file to flash to a HP Elite X2 1012 g2. Please let me know if more info is needed. Many thanks!

Sorry, I'm new here. What's the difference between clean vs unlock?
The size of the HP Elite is what was given by flashrom - what could be wrong?

Unlock = there is password on your bios that you want to delete it ..clear it.
Clean = The SPI/BIOS chip firmware is divided into regions (3-4), one of them must be clean it .

The bios chip you need to backup is W25Q128FV ,its a 16MB bios.

I do not see that chip on the board. I do however have a 25Q128JVPQ - could it be this chip instead?

Thanks, need to replace the USB-C port as it isn't charging, but will let you know if it works later.

hey what software are you using to program this, i am having issues with detecting the chip.

I've been using flashrom as part of Mac. You need home-brew installed if you're running Mac and then installing with "brew install flashrom". Other Linux / Unix distros you can use "apt-get install flashrom"

Just checking. Is the bios file posted a clean ME and unlocked file or is it just an unlocked bios file? Just wanted to check before moving forward. Thank you so much for the the help.

is a file that merged the original bios from post # 8, the update on the site and cleaned the ME region, if you want to use it, make a copy of the bios of your laptop beforehand and check that it is correct ...

(1) Is your file also unlocked, no bios password?
(2) Is it possible you can provide links in the forum or other websites showing how to unlock hp bios password and how to make clean ME files?

Yes ... he doesn't have a password ..
don't forget to make a copy of the original bios of the laptop, and check it with the HxD program, before writing the bios chip
