Your dump is 32.0 MB (32768 KB), and the unlocked dump is exactly the same size.Last edited by Vesko356; 02-07-2020, 10:55 AM.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HP Elitebook 840 G5 Admin Bios PW Removal
Hi everyone,
I've got an HP Elitebook 840 G5 laptop with admin bios password.
I have managed to get a dump of the bios (I think) and have tried all the tools I can find on this site (and others) but am not having any luck.
I have tried the "HP BIOS unlock tool" sticky'd in this forum but unable to get that to run at all.
I have tried using the HP BIOS Password Removal Tool, but I am not able to get the USB to boot on my laptop.
Can someone please remove the admin password for me?
ThanksLast edited by SMDFlea; 04-10-2023, 12:54 PM.

I don't understand what you mean by post its contents. I have posted the dump of the chip as an attachment to this post.
Please clarify what you mean?
This is my 2nd request, but will be first time I will be writing back to the chip.
Thanks

Re: HP Elitebook 840 G5 Admin Bios PW Removal
Please ignore this request. I have got it working.
For some reason the HP Bios Unlock Tool, did not run on my computer.
I ran it on a different computer, and it worked. It gave me an _unlcoked_ file, which I wrote back to the chip, and I am now able to get into the BIOS!
Very happy. This is the first bios password removal I have done.
Thanks to this site and all the contributors. You guys are doing a great thing!

Re: Hp elitebook 840 g5 bios clean
Hello
Can somebody assist me as to which chip is to be read for removing the BIOS password on this model?
I see here Winbond 25Q256JVEQ , is this the right one or not ? and how would you interface it without desoldering if you did it already?
I have full package of RT809H with 52 pieces, but I am thinking of extending some wires directly from the SOP8 SOIC8 clipper to the pins on the board without desoldering.
And lastly after making backup has somebody tried Mazif's tool to remove the password as the BIOS seems to be the same as in older models of Elitebooks?
thanks

Re: Hp elitebook 840 g5 bios clean
Mazzif tool doesn't work since 8470p and later. My tool does but it varies on 840 G5 right now. Make copies of both chips and upload them to me.
You could try soldering. If it doesn't work straight away, you could try removing batteries, attaching charger, then turning laptop on, go to F10 screen, turn laptop off again but do not remove charger. Attach programmer to wires and try to read. If this doesn't work aswell then remove charger and try again. If still nothing then you need to desolder them.
But I suggest to invest in a hot air station like yihua 2008D or similar. They are cheap but quite good. Makes the job way easier.
