Re: EFIBIN File MacBook Air A1466 (EMC 2632) 820-3437-B
A yeah it was from a Catalina beta, dated from the 11 august 2019 on my end, so it may not be the latest version, however it has APFS support at least. But it's from a working system.
You can at least flash it and try again the upgrade to Catalina, it's not supposed to fail every time.
If your issue is not related to EFI/BIOS then yes please open another thread (outside the BIOS section).Attached FilesLeave a comment:

Thank you but I don't have the necessary dexterity to remove chips. As soon as I get the new caliper I'll try again to see if it recognizes the chip automatically.Leave a comment:

Thank you for your trust but it's the first time I've done a job like this and pliers seemed like the simplest solution also because I wouldn't know how to remove chips. However, I discovered by taking a photo of the motherboard that the chip is the one in the photo I attach, therefore not a Windbond but by searching online it looks like a Micron. Does the bin file change in this case?

Thank you. I'll try as soon as possible because my ch341a programmer clamp no longer works and I've ordered another one.Leave a comment:

I apologize if I repeat the post but I'm not very expert in the forum rules
Good morning.
I need help. My old mac book air model A1466 EMC 2632 820-3437 serial C02M6TLEF5V7 is password locked on the firmware. I tried to make some attempts with the ch341a programmer but, not being an expert, I can't solve it. The programmer tells me that the chip is a 25 spi flash winbond w25q64fv. I didn't understand how to remove psw. I worked on the disassembled board. How do I know if it's ok?
Thanks for your help. I managed to save a copy of the bin file, but I'm not sure what I did.
In any case, would it be possible to have a new firmware with serial insertion?Attached FilesLeave a comment:

by psdavid65I received a 2013 Macbook Air A1466 820-3437-B motherboard with serial number C02L6GQ9FSV8 that came in WITHOUT a bios chip. I got a new bios chip and reprogrammed it. Macbook now powers on but doesn't boot the SSD. I've flashed a ton of bios but still same problem. Windows installation works with this Macbook but never a mac installation. Unfortunately, since I didn't receive this macbook with a bios chip, I don't have the original bios. What can I do now?...

by m1ch43lzmHi everyone
I noticed on the Xgpro software the BIOS backup files have extra bytes at the end when reading some chips, this is because the Xgpro software also reads the OTP region of those flash chips, and by default will append that region to the saved file
Programmer models: XGecu TL866II Plus / T48 / T56 / T76
Example: GD25LQ128D (1.8V), IC size is listed as 0x1000000 Bytes (16777216 bytes) + 0xC00 bytes, those extra 0xC00 bytes will be appended to the end of the saved file by default, resulting in a file size of 16780288 bytes
There's also an extra OTP Secu.R...-

by echothegamerHello all,
Working on my wife's 13' Macbook air. It's been in a box since she upgraded but I figured it could be good practice.
Details:
Macbook 13' A1466
Board (820-3209-A)
Battery OEM 7.3v 50Wh 6700 mAh (020-7379-A)
Pictures below of Boardview and schematic...
I don't know how to test the voltage on a MacBook battery. I just assumed it had an enable pin but the best I could read was 300 something mV poking around the battery connector.
It's an older model and it is very likely that battery has become... -

by dbuergiHi all,
i got a A1466 with serious water damage. I was able to clean the whole board and only found a fuse with a coroded trace. Cleaning and resoldering did the job and the macbook started normal but after some time the screen began "flashing" like turning on and off while the Macbook was still running. I checked the board again but was not able to find the problem until now.
Any ideas where to look?... - Loading...
