You do understand what is your goal here?
No point in going to uefi settings - you have got a password preventing you. Your goal is to remove the password.
No point in trying recovery - you have a bios password, not a broken windows.
You need to boot.. Somewhere... Easiest option is to boot on Windows USB install disk, which you need to download and make using another computer. And then on that same computer, download and copy flash programming tool onto that USB install disk.
Connect that usb install disk with your surface and try to boot onto it.
If you did have that ready already then you are just trying to boot into recovery menu, which is not USB install disk. So stop doing that.
Like I said, if you have windows installed (even if it has a user password), boot onto that, click on power button icon and click shift + restart. From there you can make it boot onto the usb install disk.Attached FilesLeave a comment:

You cant program this way. What you need to do is boot onto windows install USB for example.
A tip for you is to click on power button icon on login screen and from there, click on shift and restart. This way you can access windows recovery menu.
From there you can find a way to get where you need.
Having a windows USB install disk with correct flash programming tool in known location is the important part.Leave a comment:

Thankyou for the tip. I just tried booting into usb recovery drive by pressing volume down and power button and only got the below options. Recovery option did not work. Came back with error after 2% . Only shutdown option available not restart. Not sure what am doing wrong.Leave a comment:

by merulokHi guys, can anyone help? I have a UEFI locked Surface Book (original version, model 1703) and I need to get into the BIOS settings to enable the camera but password has been lost.
I've been reading the threads regarding Surface Pro 3 and 4 and how they differ in UEFI protection - is the Surface Book more like a Pro 3 (where password can be retrieved from a BIOS dump) or a Pro 4 (where it looks at though flashing a new file is needed). Clearly I'd like to fix this without dismantling the screen (as I will break it) - can anyone offer me any help? [Can I re-activate the camera without...-

by TheLynx74Hi,
I'm setting up a Surface Pro 3 for a friend, I've been able to install the latest version of Windows 10.
On bootup it shows a red background and the Surface logo, it still boots ok into windows and he can logon.
I tried to go into the BIOS/UEFI and it asks for a password. My friend doesn't know the password, I can press enter and get limited access.
Can you please help me with the steps to recover the password so can turn on TPM and Secure boot?
Thanks-
