post the 16MB bios, look for a chip on the board...see both sides.

volinakis Can you help me too?

I'm trying to remove the UEFI password from my Surface Laptop Studio. Previous owner left Secure Boot off and forgot the uefi password. My flash descriptor is confirmed locked.

                      Relevant System Information:
                      • Model: Surface Laptop Studio
                      • PCH: Tiger Lake (TGL)
                      • Firmware Version: 15.0.47.2473 LP Consumer
                      • Serial # is 0F00MC3231100C
                      • Model ID: 1964
Edit: Will a new .bin file need to be programmed with a CH341A programmer (or other) or can it be loaded back up through the CSME tool kit?

So your bios backup is made with CSME Tool, I think it will ask for password to update it. People here are posting bios backups made with programmers, reading content of bios chipset. Give it a try but I am not sure it will work.

Confirmed I need to program direct to the chip. Thanks for the help!

volinakis I'm wondering if you're able to help me. I'm in a bit of a pickle now. I bought a ebay bios chip with the attached .bin on it. I installed the bios, and my surface on boot now shows the windows logo for 3 seconds, but won't get past that. I'm wondering if you'd be able to help me determine if the bin file (Attachment: Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 1964 M1138155-008 11th) the ebay seller loaded onto the chip is wrong.

I have a programmer now, and I pulled the attached dump bin (Attachment: dump_2024.12.09.bin) from the original bios after removing it. Maybe I should reinstall the dumped bin to make sure I don't have a hardware problem instead. Yikes 😅

Got it loaded onto the board successfully, but accidentally blew away two resistors of unknown value. I suspect they're 10k pull up 0201's because they're connected to pins 3 and 7 (IO2 and IO3) but don't have access to another board to measure :-(

Please read the thread title, this thread is for the Surface Laptop Studio not surface laptop 3. Use the forum search, look for a surface laptop 3 bios thread and post there.
