    Microsoft Surface Book UEFI password removal

    Hi guys, can anyone help? I have a UEFI locked Surface Book (original version, model 1703) and I need to get into the BIOS settings to enable the camera but password has been lost.

    I've been reading the threads regarding Surface Pro 3 and 4 and how they differ in UEFI protection - is the Surface Book more like a Pro 3 (where password can be retrieved from a BIOS dump) or a Pro 4 (where it looks at though flashing a new file is needed). Clearly I'd like to fix this without dismantling the screen (as I will break it) - can anyone offer me any help? [Can I re-activate the camera without needing UEFI password?]

    I have a same problem.
    Can't get dump file.

    Showing error:
    Error 316: Protected Range Registers are currently set by BIOS, preventing flash access.
    Please contact the target system BIOS vendor for an option to disable Protected Range Registers.
    FPT Operation Failed.

    What can i do?

        @IVARSX
        Try opening command prompt as Administrator, then change path and run the utility… you may as well use this other utility in this other post and upload your file.

          @RethoricalCheese i use FPTw.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin

          @AAAC Yes, i open command prompt as Administrator, then change path and run the utility...
          This other utility showing error: " Can not identify the BIOS ! "

          Maybe Surface Book BIOS can't get bios dump.

                    Hi,
                    I bought a Surface 1703 and BIOS is asking for a password which is unknown by the seller. It is not getting to USB boot mode there is not much choice only a password screen. May I help to get that rid and get it into normal operation?
