Thank you, v9.5r6 was working for me. Password decrypted and Surface is unlocked...
Code:
fptw64.exe -BIOS -D my-backup.bin
Can I ask how did you did it? how did you managed to do it? I cannot even dump the image. how can I decrypt and get the password from the bin file? if this the same tool? thanks
Did you use windows installer to run fptw? If so, did you use fptw which is located in win64 folder (or whatever your windows installation disk happens to be)?

No, I did not. what I did is ran the tool on the surface with the locked bios since at leats I had access all the way to the desktop. on the other hand, when you mentioned that there will be no need to remove the screen. what did you meant by that? what about the Surface with BitLocker and when there is no way to not even start the Surface is DOS?
Nah, not DOS. Windows install media is the best for surfaces.
Attach install media. Click on restart while holding down shift. This will take you to Windows recovery. Usually you can boot to USB from there. When you boot up to installer, choose language etc and on the next screen do alt+r. Navigate to command prompt from there. Use the correct folder. Win64 I guess.

Clearly I'd like to fix this without dismantling the screen (as I will break it) - can anyone offer me any help? [Can I re-activate the camera without...
I've got 2 Surface 4 laptops that need to be unlocked. Is anybody able to remove password from it or supply a working BIOS? I've had a look around the board and only found one chip that looks to be it a winbond 25R256JWPQ.
