I'm having a very hard time finding a bin for this laptop.

Can somebody help me with a dump for:

LCL-1 MB
14283-1M

I tried extracting the official lenovo update with innoextract but the file I got is only 8MB, the chip from the board is 16MB. I will attach the backup of my corrupted bios and the file I managed to extract. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I flashed it but now I have a clicking short sound coming from the mobo. Can't confirm it's working. I might have another mobo issue.

I assume that this one doesn't have a supervisor password set? I am having difficulty removing the SVP. Flashing this ROM didn't remove it and would like to verify. Is it known that it is stored somewhere else? There is no eeprom on these laptops right?

Just to verify I attached an image of the chip, novoton npce288ga0dx, I think is responsible for IO. I didn't see an ITE chip on the board. I can attach / send higher res images of both sides of the board if you would want to take a peak if I am incorrect.

Yes password store i think this chip Npe288... if you have svod or other programmer then you can.If dont have buy patch is better i think.

Thanks for the info. I do not have a svod programmer. I do have another one of these laptops for parts. I'm thinking of swapping the chips.

@genbox, NPCE288 is programmable. If you replace this io chip it has to be from same motherboard, else will not work as you dont have tools to flash io chip. Just double check it before replacing npce288 chip.

machine types picture attached. The first machine type is a 20EM ,do a google search for it,find the support page ,go to Drivers & Software, Manual Update , Bios. Click on the "README for BIOS Update Utility" https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/m.../r05uj20ww.txt .The bios ID`s are R05ET**W .Download all the bios posted on this thread,open each one with a hex editor, use the text search R05ET .If one matches youve got a bios to try .

If the bios at post #3 isn`t a R05ET look for a bios at other sites,you only have to google search with the motherboard part number "LCL-1 MB 14283-3 bios"

Check each with a hex editor for R05ET ,if one or both are ok then open each one with MEAnalyzer to check if the ME firware is clean "Configured" . If it is "initialised" then the ME wants cleaning
