Actually good news. The swap from my CPU to a different CPU where someone confirmed they never installed new BIOS updates has worked. My system booted up in 1.3.2 BIOS and I made sure to turn off the Firmware capsule update first thing.
So it does work where you can recovery flash back to 1.3.2 but not with a CPU where the Intel e-fuses have been burned in the chip by microcode updates. The makes sense by Intel since they do not want security "fixes" undone. Hell for 51m owners though.Comment

Jasonexe how is your Area51m R1 behaving? I found that with my recovery flash back to 1.3.2 the far left set of keys would light up and then go dark. This would cycle as it appears the embedded controller was activating the keyboard but then handing off to CPU which (due to e-fuses) thought there was a security attack. It would then refuse to fetch and process anything thus the EC would turn off the system and then this cycle of far left light up and drop off would occur ~6 times. Then double flash red Alienware head error code (BIOS).
Once I swapped back to the "old/untouched" CPU, which actually was a 9900K upgrade for me, it at first appeared to do the same for first two boots but then BOOM! rainbow keyboard and did a few more cycles before the display came up. The BIOS date and all settings were cleared out so make sure (if you go this route) to disable the firmware update BIOS setting or the network will screw over your 1.3.2 BIOS (and CPU)Comment

Thanks everyone for in 2025 still being present to help with such a system. Jasonexe if you use Reddit or can reach out again to the guy (who I think is the same person I read about) regarding the risks of 1.3.2 then perhaps pass along the "requirement/workaround" of attempting such a flash of BIOS. Most should only ever go back to 1.5.0 or seems 1.7.3 is safer. Kinda stoked at what a cheap fix this was for me since I already wanted to upgrade to a 9900K but was too lazy to do it but then reselling the 9900 CPU it will be like $30 and no soldering.
Jasonexe if you want to join me then make sure you recover your BIOS with the original CPU with hoaca388's generous help at level 1.7.3 (UH4 chip flash) and then once working you can do a 1.3.2 downgrade with the recovery process. Then swap your CPU to an untouched model if trying to get 1.3.2 to boot. But I hope to at least hear that your system is working again. You might want to send some pictures as the UH4 SPI chip location has these super duper tiny capacitors around it which I am fearful got knocked off on your board unless you placed Kapton tape down around the chip as the chipquick de-soldering paste kinda goes all over (which is why I did not want to even try grabbing a backup of my SPI)Comment

One strange thing is that somehow the downgrade BIOS & CPU swap has altered my Windows Boot. I am getting a blue screen error with 0c0000225 "unable to boot", however if I hit F12 I can manually select my RAID0 and boot fine. I will have to update how to fix this later to this thread but FYI. Probably a good idea to backup all your data before venturing down the 1.3.2 BIOS downgrade "rabbit hole".Comment

OK I had to reassign a drive letter to the system boot partition and then use bcdedit to update the {bootmgr} device from "unknown" to that partition. All the data was there but somehow lost the reference to the system files that allow for boot.Comment

by druxHi,
I've had an ssd that was previously used on dell xps 8960 and then it was installed in Alienware Aurora R15(intel version). On first windows boot in R15 windows started bios update and loaded bios for xps 8960(r15 and xps8960 essentially have same motherboards).
Now it has xps 8960 bios that looks different from alienware bios and when I'm trying to run bios update files for R15, I get unsupported platform error.
These models have AMI/Aptio BIOS.
Tried to edit product info with DMI Edit to change values back to Alienware R15, but it does not want...-

by studdy05Hp Probook 450 G7 s# SCD0348W35 had a locked BIOS. Bought BIOS and EC chips off Ebay that were supposed to match this machine - the 450 G7. Flashed in the BIOS on chip i bought using a CH341. BIOS unlocked next boot. Some error to contact HP. Entered BIOS and reset to system defaults and rebooted. Machine worked fine but every cold boot the contact HP message popped and everything else worked as fine. Assumed the error was from EC chip not matching BIOS that i just flashed in. So i flashed in the EC that was supposed to match from the EBay chip i bought and instant brick.

by macabookHello everyone,
I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
🧩 Initial Issue- Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
- External display (HDMI) shows

by BradbeatHi,
I maybe posted on the wrong forum so i post it here, tell me if it's not good :
I would like to flash the bios chip with the latest bios found on dell's website and we'll see what to do next.
I got the RCV file (Alienware_Area-51m_1_28_0.rcv) and extract it with biosUtilities, the result was in this picture
My first questions are: -Is it the BIOS_FV_MAIN.bin tnat i have to put on the chip, because it seems to short?
-Taking into account that there is no ssd nor hdd is it ok to flash a "factory" BIOS?
hope it's clear enough, if you...-
