ROG ally Z1 Extreme bios ok?

    Hello,
I'm fighting with an rog ally that i bought broken and which will not start. I found that the ec chip was shorting out so i replaced it with a new and empty one, short's gone and values look good. unfortunately, the ec chip doesn't reprogramm itself although - according to experience from others I've checked with - it should rewrite itself. WHen i attach power, both ec-chip and bios get power supply. to dig further i decided to read bios, maybe there is some corruption going on in there. Bios chip is a Winbond 74m25jweiq, neoprogrammer/ch314b identifies it as W25Q256JW and reads it completly.
Could someone with knowledge do me a favor and check the image if it is fine or if there is something corrupted/suspicious?
    Thanks in advance

No in my case the bios update didn't help at all.
If you have it working on battery just update the bios normally than all subsystems should get updates if available

Can’t update the bios because when i try to wipe the ally and do a fresh install of everything it asks me to plug in the usb c charger to continue and it doesn’t pick it up so im stuck now, installed windows 11 from pc and copied it to ssd still same thing, looks like a i need the ite chip to be picking up the usbc being plugged in before i can do anything.

And you are sure the port is physically ok? I doubt it is the ec chip, when the ally itself is working. I'd think it's something with the power management circuit, check the area around the intersil chip (if i remember correctyl, it's the ISL9420)

have you tested the port further by attaching USB-devices?

Asus ROG Ally X -RC72LA - changed hidden bios settings with 'Smokeless-UMAF', won't get past boot logo

ASUS ROG Ally X - (Handheld Gaming PC)
                    Model No: RC72LA
                    Serial No: SBNVKD001014459

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...

                    🛠️ MSI GP75 Leopard MS-17E71 – No Display, Deep BIOS/EC Troubleshooting
                    by macabook
                    Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
                    🧩 Initial Issue
                    • Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
                    • External display (HDMI) shows
                    ...

                    Asus Ally rc71l bios
                    by chudofermer
                    Hello!

Received Asus Ally rc71l with the wrong bios.
Have the original package and all serial numbers.

Can anyone help me understand what is wrong?

                    Condition:
Received with an original box with all serial numbers
Due to the bios updating, something went wrong and I can not check in the bios. The recovery mode sometimes appears, usually was stopped on the logo.
Got the flash dump, nothing found on DMI section
No Windows key, just key ID on the box

                    What is done:
                    1. Flash the latest bios version with serial numbers...

[Problem/ Request] Bricked TongFang GK7MRFR BIOS
                    by cr4zychriss
                    Hello everyone,
I am requesting urgent assistance to unbrick my laptop, a rebranded TongFang GK7MRFR chassis. The laptop is completely dead following a faulty in-OS EC flash attempt.
I have successfully used a CH341A programmer and can read/write/verify both flash chips, but using my backups/extractions has failed to restore power. The root cause is likely a corrupted Intel Management Engine (ME) region or an incompatible EC/BIOS pairing. System & Hardware Details

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo UX8402ZA BIOS
                    by pirati
                    Hello everyone,

I recently bought a non-working Asus Zenbook Pro Duo OLED UX8402ZA that was listed for parts only. The seller mentioned that it had no display output but that the charging lights worked.

When the laptop arrived (without a charger and SSD), I connected a charger and confirmed with a multimeter that it was charging the battery. However, when I tried to power it on, only the backlight of the secondary display came on. There was no image, and it didn’t boot into the BIOS.

I decided to try flashing a new BIOS, but since I didn’t want to desolder...
