Toshiba Satellite C850D no video, maybe bios needed

Hi there,
Im trying to work on this C850D-108, PSC9WE.
At powerup a white led stays on but no signal on screen or vga output. The unit accepts shutdown. While powered on the NB and CPU(soldered to bord) gets warm and the SB gets really warm after about 30 seconds.
I was thinking that either the NB or SB needs reball but I wanted to update the bios first but I couldnt find a proper bios file for it or the schematic to identify the chip version.
I'd apreciate some help on this matter from anyone who had prior experience with this model.

I'm having the same symptoms you have in a C850D-125. But I'm past BIOS, it seems a BIOS problem but I still couldn't fix it yet. You can follow my thread here.

That bios file I found as well and wonder if PLCBX8.FD is the bios package?! Cause in the Win7 dir the file is 2MB while in Win8 is 4MB.
Btw, did u manage to locate the bios chip? Can you show me? Without schematic I cant decide which of the 2 chip nearby the NUOVOTON it is.

Yes, PLCBX8.FD is the bios file. Size difference is due to Windows 8 license and others related to Windows 8.

Visit my thread and see if BIOS chip and board reference matches, my chip is Winbound and it's located on the left of the card reader. You could easily avoid this question if you read it first.

I read your thread but my motherboard has a nuvoton chip and even the chip which I suspect is the bios has a different location then yours.

You might want to look closer. According to that thread all points to a Winbond chip.

Here are the partial pictures of the board. The chip is a Nuvoton NPCE795LA0DX. Im not sure which of the two chips contains the bios flash(red circle or blue square). Since I dont have the schematic I also find it difficult to identify the chip version in order to flash it with my programmer.

This is most likely MX25L1606E by Macronix (MXic) so that concludes it is bios chip.

Yes, I managed to flash it but the same problem persists. Laptop start, power indicator is on but no vga signal on lcd or vga out.

Thanks, I saw it but that's an intel board schematic and mine is AMD. I took off today the vga chip and reballed it, tomorrow will put it back togheter and see what happens.

Well, im passed now the bios. I flashed it but the laptop was still not showing signs on the screen so I took off the gpu, reballed it and put it back. The laptop does the same thing, powers up, power led on, but no screen. I dont know what else to do with it.
