    Asus Vivobook X712J bios

I am attempting to remove a power-on password on an Asus Vivobook X712J, sn MG7N0CV08765227C.

The motherboard is X512A R.20 (on the silkscreen), and 13NB0KS0AM0101, 13N1-78A0101 (on sticker).
The EEPROM chip is 25B127DSIG by GigaDevice.

Attached is the BIOS dump as received. I have tried the info posted at BIOS guides, methods, resources and tools but when XORing the key found with the decryption key (posted by SMDFlea here:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...=2#post1544866 ), it gives an error indicating the result is non-printable ascii. (Attached is a screenshot of the key section found).

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if that key doesn't apply to this model. Can someone check if I'm doing something wrong, or if there's another approach that should be used.
(note: I have a second one of these laptops with the same problem)

THANK YOU! That worked, power-on password gone! As I mentioned in the first post, I have two of these laptops. The second is the same model, with the serial number: M7N0CV08765227C. I don't mind doing the work if you can give me some guidance on the process to use. If you'd rather do it and post back the bios that is fine as well. Attached is the BIOS dump from the 2nd laptop.

Thank you! That one also worked without any problems. I am sincerely grateful for your time and help!

This thread is an example of two laptops saved, and there have been many others where I simply found the info I needed without having to post. Without this site, many machines would not have been fixed or not have been fixed so easily.)

With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...

                        Hi there,

I know there is somebody who can tell me what is happening with my laptop. For start, it is an asus vivobook s510ua with an asustek x510ua motherboard with an intel i5 7200u cpu and 16gb ram.. i have a screenshot from speccy before strange things started.. as you can see the laptop type and bios version x510ua.302.I don’t manually update the bios because i don’t like to having a bricked bios, i know what troubles that gives..

I did a fresh win 11 install, and after the automatic updates, windows rebooted and automatically started asus ez flash.....

                        ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
                        by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                        Some issues
                        A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                        Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...
