When I have to update Bios?

Many people update Bios when they cannot find other solution, or when cannot find any problems in the motherboard. But I want to know your opinion. Which cases do you update Bios?

Re: When I have to update Bios?

if you are experiencing problems when you add new hardware, having issues about resource conflicts or getting errors while loading OS's or freezing during os loading. these are the most common cases. But there is no exact answer that describes when you will need it. There are toons of situations that you should update bios to solve the stiuation. But i can say that if you dont have any problems with your system, not neccessary.

Re: When I have to update Bios?

I look at what a BIOS update specifically fixes/addresses and if the fixes have nothing to do with any issues I am having or am likely to have then I don't usually update it. Problem is in the descriptions the BIOS updates don't always list everything the update fixes. As long as a BIOS update is done properly I have rarely seen it become a problem.

Re: When I have to update Bios?

I asked that because just now I have a HP dv6 and led blinking twice and no video has.
I think should be bios, but I am not sure. I think that would be off topic here and I will create a new thread.

Dell 9010 MT BIOS Update Always Fails
          by mikeybass
Hi, I hope some one has some advice for me. I searched the forums but didn't see anything relevant. I acquired two identical Dell 9010 Mid Tower computers from a business office upgrade (they were going to throw them out). Both of them have the same motherboard (00F82W). One of them works flawlessly. The other one had a corrupted BIOS. I tried flashing numerous main BIOS and EC files from the internet, but none of them worked. I decided to copy the main BIOS and EC from the working 9010 computer and successfully flashed the corrupted BIOS. This got the computer able to boot again and run norm...

Fixed: Lenovo P14s Gen 1 (type 20Y1, 20Y2) Laptop (ThinkPad) bricked by a withdrawn BIOS update (r1buj82w)
          by akwky
          Hi!
Went dumpster-diving and found a bricked Lenovo P14S in trash, few weeks earlier. Symptoms - no screen, no POST, no beep, just keyboard LEDs flashing on powerup. Mute button+LED was responding though, and the display self-test was still working (via the key combo Ctrl+Fn+Power held for some seconds, see the Service manual).

Incidentally, Windows 11 have recently started auto-flashing computer BIOS in our region. Even more suspiciously, Lenovo has released a BIOS update just few days before the PC was trashed. About a week later, the BIOS update image has been oficially marked...

          Update bios EFCN58WW to EFCN59WW

Update bios EFCN58WW to EFCN59WW for solving The Connected AC adapter has a lower wattage than the recommended AC adapter

          I have a Lenovo Legion 5 15imh05a device that I bought used online. It came with a 20V 8.5A 170W charger.

          The BIOS version is EFCN58WW.

When I turn on the device, it displays the message:
"The Connected AC adapter has a lower wattage than the recommended AC adapter..."

The device rarely charges the battery, and even when it does, it doesn't show that it's charging.

          I've tried

2022 Razer Blade 14 (RZ09-0427) won’t boot after Windows update, only the green LED blinks - overheated or BIOS?
          by 0xx
          Hi folks,

My son clicked “Update and Shutdown” on a Razer Blade 14 (2022, RZ09-0427), closed the lid, disconnected the charger, and put the laptop in his backpack. The next day, it wouldn’t boot: only the green LED blinked, no fans, no keyboard backlight, no display. The chassis does get warm, so the CPU/GPU seems to get power.

What I’ve tried so far: disconnecting the main battery, CMOS reset with power drain (30s), using a different power adapter, and connecting to the monitor - same result.

I assumed that Windows Update was interrupted due to closing...
