If you compare the files at posts 1 & 2 with a hex editor you`ll see the differences,there is very little that needs editing.

Of course there are differences,the one at post #1 is locked ,the one at post #2 is unlocked.Look at the difference in the hex pattern , 00 FC AA - 00 FC 00 .There`s a second hex pattern,i`ll leave you to find that.

I have compared and only 4 places are different.

and I think I must change some of hex 00 FD 22 to 00FD 00.

1st boot, press F2, write service tag, disable Absolute, save (Apply changes), restart. 2nd boot press Alt+F to exit manufacturing mode

My Latitude 5440 has two bios chips: an EC Bios and a main Bios.

Question: In order to remove the password from the bios, do both bios chips need to be patched or only the main bios chip?
