Are you using the official power adapter ?

Do you see the green / orange light on the adapter ?

Does the unit function with only the adapter ? (no battery)

See attached. Remove all power / no battery.

            Meter in resistance mode.

Check the resistance across the battery mosfet @ Q7155.

            source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)
            source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
            gate (4) & drain (5-6-7-8)

Post each measurement. If the meter shows '1' or 'OL' -> then switch to a higher meter scale to take a measurement.

If the resistance is too low, the mosfet is likely to be defective and must be replaced.

              source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8) 105k
              source (1-2-3) & gate (4) > 500k
              gate (4) & drain (5-6-7-8) > 600k

With the battery removed and using only the external power adapter, what are the voltage readings of this battery mosfet ?

                Pins:

                Source (1-2-3)
                Gate (4)
                Drain (5-6-7-8)

                  Re: Macbook Air A1466

Power button on the keyboard is usually the culprit; this is seperate to the rest of the keyboard and not muxed by the trackpad. With no power applied, check pin 20 on J4800 for a short to ground when power button is pressed.

SMC_ON/OFF_L is pulled high by R5170 to 3.42V, power button shorts this line low.

                    Solved!
                    Thanks all
It was a strange high leak on TouchPad, SCL related.
