    iPhone 5 bootlooping

    Hey everyone,

Working on an iPhone 5, came in for data recovery.

Phone booted straight into recovery mode, connected it to 3uTools, used "exit recovery mode", and since then it just bootloops. I get the Apple logo, after a good 5 to 10 seconds, then power gets cut and the logo fades.

Took it out of the housing, only battery, chargeport and screen connected, same issue. took off the heatshield to measure a bit, but I'm not experienced with iPhone 5 so no clue what to check first.

With a thermal cam I could see L2 heats up to about 45c, and sometimes the U7 chip next to get get a little heatspot close to it. Connected to a power supply it never draws more then 0.29a.

Where do I go from here? What should I measure? Thanx in advance!

Could someone tell me what the regular resistance to ground on PP_VCC_MAIN should be by any chance?

Hey! Thanx for the reply, I've checked the area and everything is present. The board is pretty much in mint condition, except for me removing the heatshield.

Hi. you need to check tristar (u2) thermal camera.

Under the thermal cam only the L2 is getting hot, and the U7 a little bit. The tristar doesn't seem to heat up. Also the tristar tester gave no issue.

Do you have schematics for this phone you can post here?

              Remove all power and battery.

              Meter in resistance mode.

What is the resistance to ground of this L2 inductor?

I came across that forum post, there they measure a short, as far as I can tell I don't have a short.

I'm working in ZXW so I don't think I can share The boardnumber of the schematic I'm working of is 820-3141-B.

                Resistance is 0.168 to ground.

Chromebook recovery failed - how to fix it
                  by volinakis
So I had a Asus C433T Chromebook enrolled and after I modified bios I had to reinstall Chromium. I made a USB recovery stick with Chromebook Recovery Utility but I got "an unexpected error has occurred ..." message. I did try with another USB stick, etc. etc. -all steps found on internet about this issue and nothing worked.
Finally I found a site where they suggested to try with an older image and ... it worked!
                  What I did:
                  - when β€œChrome OS is missing or damaged” message appeared I pressed Tab key and found: read only firmware id: Google_Rammus. xxxxx.xxx.x....

iPhone XS Data recovery from NAND flash
                  by Spider1211
Hey guys, I have an iPhone XS which came in as dead. The phone was not worked on before (I was the first to open it). After diagnosis (Splitting board, etc) it's confirmed to have a shorted PP2v63_NAND line.

Removed the NAND flash and short is gone on the board. Measuring directly on the NAND, there is about 2 to 15ohm to ground.

Is there anyway of backing up data externally in such cases (Client has some very important files and no back ups)?

                  820-00850 & 820-01949, No WiFi *In Recovery*
                  by ugamazing
I've got two boards with the exact same issue, and it's confusing the hell out of me. In short:

                  1. Both boards behave *exactly* the same; they will show WiFi networks to connect to, and will boot fully to Internet Recovery, but they each show zero available WiFi networks once booted to Internet Recovery. I also cannot switch WiFi "off", as in, the toggle will not move.

                  2. Both boards will erase perfectly fine using the "erase mac" function; I can wipe them with disk utility, but if I try to install MacOS from Internet Recovery, it says to connect...

                  820-00850 Restarts at Internet Recovery?
                  by ugamazing
Working on an 820-00850 board that had liquid to UB400, QB631, QB640 and QB630. I replaced all, and board powers up fine, restores fine, but it has one weird quirk that I've not seen before: It will crash and restart at the same exact time every single time--once internet recovery loads. So, the board will power on and sit at the select-wifi-network screen indefinitely. I can select a WiFi network and load Internet Recovery, but the instant it finishes loading and prepares to actually load the language-select screen for internet recovery, it restarts.

Not sure where to start with...

820-2915-A Wont power on with battery connected
                  by beogeek
Ok so this doing my head in and hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be able to assist.

I've got a MacBook Pro 820-2915-A it will power on without the battery connected, but when the battery is connected it will do a 2,3-second fan spin when pressing the power button and then nothing.

After measuring and probing around I found that R7051 was bad, reading high instead of 2.2Ξ© so I replaced it. Still the same issue, I have the green light on the charger but it won't power on or charge the battery.

So to cut the long story short I've replaced U7000,...
