With original battery it starts and I read the number of cycles but indicates battery requires assistance. with compatible it stays on the symbol in charge lightning to infinity (battery tested on another mac and it works)

Carefully measure the voltage on each leg of the battery. Specifically interested in the SMBUS readings on the battery (SCL and SDA).

Take this measurement when the battery is connected to the logic board and power adapter is plugged in to charge the battery.

Repeat for each battery.

Are you using the original magsafe adapter for this logic board?

What is the power rating of the adapter?

Is the adapter able to power the logic board without the battery? Normal leds turn on the magsafe power head during use or remain off like your title?

Power adapter is a known good unit and with working green and orange lights on another macbook?

With either battery, with adapter plugged in, does the battery actually charge? Or does the battery get drained after some time even with the adapter plugged in?

Does the new battery report the number of charge cycles?
