    Dell la-9832p no charging

    hi friends, I have a problem with a dell mobo with the code LA-9832P, this mobo can't charge I measured the voltage on the 0v battery pin

    this is the result of measuring ic bq24717
    ACN = 19.6V
    ACP = 22.4V
    CMSRC=22.3V
    ACDRV=28V
    ACOK=2.5V
    ACDET=2.8V
    SRN=15V
    SRP=15V
    REGN=6V
    VCC=21.2V

    I hope someone here can help me

    Re: Dell la-9832p no charging

    Hi. A few comments:

    1) adapter voltage is higher than usual. Should be ~19v.

    Are you using the official power adapter for this logic board?

    2) battery leg is with a good voltage since SRN and SRP are at 15V. Double check your battery contacts. Remove all power and check the resistance from the SRN pin to the battery connector. Should be ~0 ohms.

    3) does the pc work ok other than the battery charging?

      2) For the measurement of srn&srp it is not read in all ohm modes, sir, and does not show 0 ohms
      3) this laptop works fine except the charger sir

      I followed the path of the battery pin connected to the power selector ic sir, what ic is this, and for what?

        Test with known working genuine charger of correct wattage and check your multimeter. Voltages does look indeed to high like mentioned before.

            Re: Dell la-9832p no charging

            In your first post, you measured 15v on srn/srp pins. The same 15v should be reaching the battery connector unless the contact or pcb trace is broken.

            The 15v is a good charging voltage rail but at the same time, the battery connector is at 0volts? Confirm it.

            Remove all power. Measure the resistance from srn to the battery connector. The readings should be 0 ohms. Confirm it again. Maybe some liquid damage in this area? Can you share clear pics of this part of the logic board?

              The reading seems incorrect to me. How ACN/ACP voltage can differ by such huge margin. ACDRV at 28V is too high. I think you need to replace the battery of your DMM.

                Since this is a Dell motherboard, first of all connect the display and check if adapter type is ok ,if it shows unknown then PS_ID line is faulty, check for any burnt diode, this is a common fault on the PS_ID line, solve on fault yesterday by removing the burnt diode.

                  ACN = 22.4v ?

                  There should only be a 0.1v drop between then, check the CLR in ohms mode if it ok.

                    tapi memang pin srn dan srp tidak mengarah ke soket batrai pak, karena aku melihat skemanya
                    but indeed the srn and srp pins don't lead to the battery socket, sir, because I saw the schematic

                      Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                      by Bowline
                      My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

                      Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

                      My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
                      The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

                      I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:

                      Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.

                      The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...

                      Dell Latitude E7440 battery not charging only works on AC Adapter LA-9591P
                      by Grucha98
                      Hi, i have problem with dell E7440, battery is not charging. Idk all story. Original Dell Adapter broken up (its not give 19V) i guess first ac adapter broken up and it broken charging circuit in laptop. Laptop has clone battery (Green Cell)

                      Laptop works on clone adapter, and its not charging battery. Like on photo. I checked mosfets near battery plug. They are not shorted. But on PQ809 and PQ810 are low on diode mode (both 0.25V) I desoldered them and check on bench and they are good both 0.5V on diode mode. I checked only drain - source way. So its board circuit it should be higher,...

                      Hey guys,

                      I've seen several questions about this exact issue, but I've never found the fix, so I would appreciate if we can start over the whole debugging process again from start to finish, for my specific issue.

                      In the BIOS setup, (see pic) the AC adapter is detected with the correct power rating, the battery is stated as charging (when plugged in, of course), and the battery health is stated as "Excellent" (as expected, since this is a brand new battery purchased a couple of weeks ago). However, the battery never charges (the percentage never increases)....
