Good question but believe the strapping is all that is needed. Do not know for sure about the bios. We did outsource this service to Malaysia (youtube contact) for an iMAC in the past - they definitely did some strap moves to pimp up the logic board to 16GB. All in all worked well for about a year - then would not power up. We have the unit back and did attempt a proper reflow of the memory ICs with our BGA workstation but still no luck to allow for the proper boot.

For us, on the imac - led #1 and #2 are now solid ON but no other. led # 3 = MEMORY for this A1419 unit. Work for another day...

MacBook Pro 2018 with Activation Lock
      by envym
      Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 NAND upgrade error 35
      by kuba2102
Hello people. I have undertaken an upgrade from 256GB to 512GB. I have another A2681 board that I sourced NANDs, resistors and capacitors from. Yet when I try to restore the firmware in FDU mode I get the error 0x23 (35) (error formatting the NAND). Could it be the faulty NAND or I have missed something? Thank you...

MacBook Pro A2338 SSD Upgrade problems
      by Logix_UK
Hi Everyone, I have a MBP A2338. It had 256Gb Storage, I bought new Nands on Ali and I have installed them, today. After re assembly I booted the Mac in DFU and revived it with Apple Configurator. It got to step 3 and the Mac hung. I was forced to hard boot it and it will not boot into DFU now. I am using the top USB-C port, I have a USB-C data cable and I have tried DFU Blaster, in trial mode, and I can not get it to boot into DFU now. I am getting 5V and just a few milliamps. Can anyone think of anything?

      Thank you...

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
      by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
      • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
        • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
      • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
        • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
      • PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)
