check the voltage on each side of r8141.

Do you see +3v42 on r8141, pin # 1 ? This is an open-drain output and the r8141 pull-up resistor is required to pull up this line to a '1' state.

Check board thoroughly for corrosion and each sub-rail for shorts/low impedance (especially PCH). Also check PM_SLP_S4 state when initially connecting magsafe (no battery). If you don't get any activity, then review the PM_SLP_S4 pre-requisites. If you get a pulse (once or twice) problem is elsewhere.

What is the voltage of PPDCIN_G3H after you connect the original power supply ?

Also measure and post the readings of:

Post the voltage readings of R1460, pin # 1 and also of pin # 2.

Then remove all power -> meter in resistance mode (100k or higher scale).

                                Measure the resistance across R1460.

No point in checking random things, must fix things in order of the power sequence…

Piernov is 100% correct. The power sequence is available here:

                                    https://logi.wiki/index.php/G3_to_S3..._and_Broadwell

                                    From the first post:

                                    S5_PWRGD=3.3 yet PM_DSW_PWRGD=0V

Piernov alludes to this in his first post, however I guess this wasn't clear to the OP. You won't get to S4 beyond this signal, so troubleshooting beyond PM_SLP_SUS_L is a waste of time.

PM_DSW_PWRGD comes from the SMC, so you need to be troubleshooting why this is low. Check all supplies around the SMC (PP3V3_S5_SMC_VDDA, PP3V3_S5_AVREF_SMC etc), also check for signs off liquid damage in this area. Sometimes you get crap under the SMC causing weird issues, so I remove the edge bonding and reflow it with flux. Could also be a crook SMC of course too.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                      Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
