    Da0lx8mb6d1 REV.D LX89 CAPS BLINK

Hi. I have the following machine:

    HP Pavilion dv6-3156sg
    DA0LX8MB6D1 REV: D
    AMD CPU

Turns on, black screen, CAPS flashing white every 4 seconds, wifi is solid amber.
There was a little corrosion between two pads on the keyboard FPC, which I cleaned. No short. Tested bios flash but no luck. Tried slight reflow to GPU as reported to be a common issue on this model, no luck either.

I am unsure if the dumps I used are propper for this mb, as there are many different versions I can find on the internet, and the recommended on this forum didn't work.

Once again I tested all major coils/caps and no apparent shorts, the liquid damage between the kb points doesn't seem to have damaged adjacent capacitors. I will try to find the right schematic for this board. Could it be CPU? The hottest component in the motherboard once it's on for over a minute is the SOUTH BRIDGE ic (SB820), but not hot enough to point for short. Still, it burns while cpu/gpu haven't yet gotten ant heat on.

    will appreciate any help

Usually dead RS880M northbridge. Should get hot pretty quickly without heatsink at least (don't leave it running like that for more than a few seconds).
    CPU must be S1g4.

It won't fix the problem since 99% of the time it's not an contact issue between the BGA and the logic board. There's a high risk of damaging the board even further.
If you want to confirm if an AMD/NVidia chip is bad, you can heat it up to 200°C max for a minute and a half, no flux. It'll come back to life for a short while and then die again, because it's bad. In this case it has to be replaced.

Thank you for your help. I did use low temp, and only as a diagnostic test. The Northbridge didn't get hot, only South, I read later that NB is the usual culprit in this motherboard, on a rus forum. Unfortunately, I am unable to proceed with this repair as the customer preferred to invest in a more recent machine.

I very much appreciate your concern and will I look out for this fault next time I get a similar machine.
