    Macbook Air A1466 Dead

    Logic board:820-00165A

History: No liquid spill or corrosion. Has come after repair attempt by others. Customer says there was charging issue but the unit was working well but i've received it as dead unit.

MAgsafe light glows green and then orange , No fan spin. consumption on DC supply 0.0027A.

    PPBUS_G3H_R-1.16V(measured at D7005)
    ISL6259 measurements:

    PIN1-0V
    PIN2-15.8V
    PIN3-4.12V
    PIN10-3.3V
    PIN11-3.3V
    PIN12-3.42V
    PIN17-18: 1.12V
    PIN27-28:1.12V

    Resistance between pin17-18 -3.5 Ohms
    Resistance between pin27-28:21 Ohms

Charger IC seems to be replaced by earlier technician-so i replaced it with a new IC to be sure. All the measurements are with new charging IC. Charging IC is soldered properly(checked under microscope).

Can this unit be revived?? Please suggest the way forward.

PS: I've checked resistor R7110/7111/7185/7186 out of circuit and they all measure as per schematic.

    PPBUS_G3H_R-1.16V(measured at D7005)
So PPBUS_G3H rail is not correct.

    1) Voltage of PPBUS_G3H @ R7006, pin # 1 ?

    2) Voltage of PPBUS_G3H @ F7140, pin # 1 ? F7140, pin # 2 ?

    3) Voltage of PPDCIN_G3H ?

    Also check and post:

    4) PPDCIN_G3H_CHGR voltage

    5) CHGR_UGATE (pin 24) U7100

    6) CHGR_LGATE (pin 21) U7100

Next, remove all power. Meter in resistance mode.

Resistance to ground on F7140, pin #2 ?

If F7140 is not blown, remove it and check resistance to ground again of F7140, pin #2.

With F7140 removed, what is the voltage @ F7140 PCB pad, pin # 1 ?

      5) CHGR_UGATE (pin 24) U7100 5.0V

@mon2, I forgot to tell that i already tried removing F7140 and measuring voltage on both pads. The voltage of PPBUS_G3H remains same even after removing F7140. So the problem is perhaps not in load side but source side. Btw, F7140 is not blown

            Re: Macbook Air A1466 Dead

@mon2, i watched that video but the symptoms are note same. However, i've solved the case. I measured resistance on top of Q7180 and it was comparable to good board, so i injected 15V from my dc supply on top of Q7180(pin1) and it chimed with display. So i did a hack to solve it. I jumpered a wire from J7000(Pin1-2) to Q7180(pin1). Everything is working perfectly and battery is also charging fine.

I know not the perfect way to solve but i tried my level best and could'nt find any fault and so just hacked it.

            Thanks to all who responded.

I am thinking that the PCB trace for PPDCIN_G3H to Q7180, pin # 1-2 was blown.

Good that you have it working.

I am working MacBook Air A1466 (820-00165-A). The problem "DEAD". Inspection under the MS shows NO LIQUID spill & board is clean as ever. I see the green light on the Magesafe jack, but still not turning on. Getting 3.3v but NO 5 Volts. As soon as I remove the Flex cable J9500 & it runs perfectly, 3.3v & 5v perfect, display ok & boots up into OS very well with no sound ofcourse & no magsafe jack lights as the Flex cable is not connected. As soon as I put this Flex cable back in again into J9500, dead again, 5v goes away. I replaced the Magsafe/Audio board/USB board...

Macbook Air A1466 820-3437-B Booting Problem
                by psdavid65
I received a 2013 Macbook Air A1466 820-3437-B motherboard with serial number C02L6GQ9FSV8 that came in WITHOUT a bios chip. I got a new bios chip and reprogrammed it. Macbook now powers on but doesn't boot the SSD. I've flashed a ton of bios but still same problem. Windows installation works with this Macbook but never a mac installation. Unfortunately, since I didn't receive this macbook with a bios chip, I don't have the original bios. What can I do now?...

                MacBook Pro 2018 - A1990 Dead - not charging - only 5V

                Hi,

                my MacBook Pro 15" 2018 Touch Bar (A1990) doesn't charge anymore. Board# 820-01041-A

I'm not experienced in diagnostics, but I want to try to solve the problem with your help, because every local shop charges around 600€ (650 usd). Which is the value of the whole Macbook.

The Macbook was charging when suddenly the "charging sound" appeared every other second for around 4-5 times.
After that the Macbook was dead. It isn't charging anymore.

The USB-C Port where the charger was plugged is burned. Also The Cable and the...

                Hello all,

Working on my wife's 13' Macbook air. It's been in a box since she upgraded but I figured it could be good practice.

                Details:

                Board (820-3209-A)
                Battery OEM 7.3v 50Wh 6700 mAh (020-7379-A)

I don't know how to test the voltage on a MacBook battery. I just assumed it had an enable pin but the best I could read was 300 something mV poking around the battery connector.

It's an older model and it is very likely that battery has become...

MacBook Pro 2011 turns on with keyboard light , screen dead
                by Rav_tangle
Hi all , thanks for having me & I think this has been asked before but my case seems a bit odd.
I have a MacBook Pro , board 820-2915a and it turns on , chimes etc etc , keyboard lights up, fans spins , can turn caps lock on/off but screen is dead.
Iv tried the resets , shine torch through back logo , nothing , it seems the screen has no power. If I plug charger , it charges but if I disconnect battery it displays green light but won't turn on. Iv tried screen on with another board & it works & seems I'm not getting any voltage at pin 2 , next to ground pin .
                is this...
