    Hey all,
im a new to soldering smd i got a few ps4 repairs done. I am currently working on my own macbook pro as its gone faulty and i need assistance on what to do.
First of all it isnt liquid damaged. now thats out the way i have followed the logi wiki cd3215 bootup sequence and im unsure where to go from here.

you may notice some doesnt have no reading this is becuase theyre same as before. in addition for step 7 u6903 was not showing on diagram so i searched for a test point for PP3V3_G3H and used that reading.

I hope someone can assist me as i am in need of my macbook for university.

ps: i aint good with schematics

    Thank you all

    Hi.

A bit confused on the measured and posted voltage readings.

    PP3V3_G3H is 0v for the U3200 post but is normal @ 3v42 for U3100 ?

Where is U6903 on this logic board? Did you mean U6990 ?

    1) Confirm that U6990, pin # 2 is 3v42 = PP3V3_G3H and this is a critical rail. It must not be 0V anywhere on the logic board.

    2) As per @Piernov's Logiwiki, both CD3215 USB Controller ICs must be working to allow for the power delivery contract to proceed to select 20V from your external Apple adapter over Type C connector.

The adapter operating @ 5V (default voltage) is OK to create the 3v42 rail using U6990 low current buck regulator (drops down from a higher voltage to a lower voltage).

      Re: Macbook Pro a1708 820-00840 5v 40ma

so what ive done from https://logi.wiki/index.php/CD3215_Bootup_Sequence
i took the table and tested all the points from it.
step 7 states u6903 which isnt on the board so i tested a test point of PP3V3_G3H from u7000 (illitrated in the screenshot attached. )
      1) the voltage for pin 2 of u6990 is 4.84v

      2 the voltage for r6999 is 3.42v

bare in mind this is on u3100 whereas on u3200 its 0v on both would this mean my cd3215 on u3200 gone bad and needs replacing

        820-3115B U7000 warming

        Hi there,
I have a Mac on the bench that wouldn't turn on, it didn't have PPBUS_G3H voltage.
I replaced the IC U7000, ISL6259 and the green light came on, the cooler turned on and showed the video, but I noticed that PPBUS_G3H is at 9.45V and the U7000 is heating up a lot.
I took resistance measurements for the earth and did not find a short circuit.
I measured the resistors connected to the U7000 and found no different value.
I searched the Forum and didn't find anything like this.
Can anyone give me any advice about this problem?
        Thanks in advance.

        A2141 820-01700 Water Damage L8504 Damaged, U3100/U3200 power cycles UB300/UB400 5V .25A
        by abajor
Like title says A2141 came in with Water Damage, customer desperately wants the data.

The actual water ingress doesn't appear too bad it sat for a day but was very dusty internally. I have no idea why L8504 was arced there is no apparent moisture there or around the LVDS cable; however, the LVDS to screen screw studs had popped off at some point and somebody tried securing it with kapton tape.

I had to create a micron wire pad jumper to reconnect the south side of the L8504 since the primary pad was blasted down to the vias.

That said after cleaning up the...

        MBP A2289 board 820-01987 Bad U3200?
        by abajor
Just looking for a second opinions before I try to source a CD3217
Rear USBC sits at 5.1V 0.01A
        Forward USBC power cycles.

PPBUS_G3H 7.5-8.3V cycles with rear USB, Cycles 0-12.5V on forward USBC

PP3v3_G3H_RTC ~3.9V with rear USBC, cycles 0-5.1 on forward USBC.

PP3v3_UPC_XB_LDO diode drop reads about 0.074V

I'm almost positive it's U3200 (its also the only thing getting warm on thermal camera) second opinions always helpful.

        Thanks!

        Macbook A1989, 820-00850, won't boot. 20V, 0A.
        by PITERPENY
Today I have a MacBook A1989 at work 820-00850. When assembled, the laptop switches to 20 volts but the consumption is 0.00 ampere. if the motherboard is on the table then the consumption of all ports is 5 volts and0.35 amperes and does not go to 20 volts only if you assemble a MacBook.
Here are some measurements, maybe someone can tell what the problem is.
The initial problem was a burnt out induction coil L8504 (replaced).
When connected to another MacBook, it constantly hangs in dfu and cannot install updates, something is wrong.
        here are some measurementsmotherboard...

820-00850 2019 MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar (A1989) mysterious battery drain
        by gboone
Hi, I was given this laptop by my uncle who said:
        • It would occasionally shutdown if not plugged in
        • battery had been replaced
        • touchbar would "strobe"
I disconnected touch bar components and strobing and sudden shutdowns were fixed. Recent updates were installed to the OS.

After fully charging the battery, with bluetooth disabled, no LAN cable and only wifi enabled, the laptop stayed on (screen on) for about 6-8 hours. Allowing screen to turn off while not in use, and it went for over a day.

        BUT

When powered off, it would at some point have a...
