    820-3115B U7000 warming

    Hi there,
I have a Mac on the bench that wouldn't turn on, it didn't have PPBUS_G3H voltage.
I replaced the IC U7000, ISL6259 and the green light came on, the cooler turned on and showed the video, but I noticed that PPBUS_G3H is at 9.45V and the U7000 is heating up a lot.
I took resistance measurements for the earth and did not find a short circuit.
I measured the resistors connected to the U7000 and found no different value.
I searched the Forum and didn't find anything like this.
Can anyone give me any advice about this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

Remove the fuse F7040 on PPBUS_G3H. Remove all power. Measure the resistance to ground on each side of the removed fuse. Post the measurements.

I removed the F7040 and measured high impedance on both sides.
I turned on the power supply and 11V (PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_REG) appeared. U7000 did not heat up.

Be sure that you are measuring the resistance to ground of this removed F7040 fuse. So one meter probe on one fuse PCB pad; other meter probe to ground. What is the resistance in ohms?

Repeat with the next PCB fuse pad. One of these sides must be a short like condition if the charger IC @ U7000 is heating up.

Yes, confirmed high impedance on both sides of the pads of the F7040 that was removed.
And I tested the Q7030 and Q7035 and they are good, but I'm thinking about changing them anyway.

The new U7000 that I installed had a problem... I replaced it and the IC stopped heating and PPBUS_G3H went to 12.61 V.
Now the battery is not charging, I must have moved something, no orange light.

Check the current sense resistor path for the battery.

After cleaning the DC IN contacts, everything was ok.

Only charge the battery with the BIL CONNECTOR (J6955) disconnected.
I thought I had solved it by cleaning the contacts, but I didn't.

What is the voltage to ground of the following points of interest ?

                    SMBUS_BATT_SDA
                    SMBUS_BATT_SCL

I replaced the battery meter board and it resolved the problem.

The issue may be linked to the ESD diodes (D6950) that are close to the battery connector. Testing of the battery connector in diode mode will confirm if the TVS ESD diodes are damaged or not which will cause the battery to be not detected.

                          Great to know.
But I changed the battery meter board and it was fine. I had never seen a defect like this.

MacBook Pro 15" 2010 820-2850 no PPBUS_G3H, green light on
                            by vdrokko99
                            Hello,

I'd like to ask help to repair 820-2850. There is green light, but not turning on because the PPVBUS_G3H is 0.5xxx V. I already measured resistance to GND, but no short ciurcuit. I did a few measure next to U7000,

                            R7020 ok,
                            R7050 ok,
                            F7040 ok,
                            SCM_RESET_L 3,4V
                            CHRG_DCIN 16V,
PP5V1_CHGR_VDD, and PP5V1_CHGR_VDDP is 0,5V but no short to GND

I think the missing PP5V1_CHGR_VDD is the problem which is comes from and go to the U7000.
This missing voltage means a defective U7000 or cause other missing voltage?...

                            Hi
                            I have an 820-2610-A
                            Board was working

U7000 is removed and was in the process of rebuilding some pads around u7000 but then realised that there is a short on CHGR_PHASE.

I confirmed this on L7030, pin 1 and I also have a short on PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_REG_L confirmed on pin 2 on L7030 and on L7301 pin 1 there is a short (that would be because it is connected to pin 2 on L7030) but on pin 2, PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_REG on L7301 it is shorted as well.

If I remove the L7030 Coil the short is not there on CHGR_PHASE and the coil has continuity when...

                            U7000 Questions
                            by dkg
Knowledge seeker here with a couple questions. Looks like my 820-2915-B motherboard's u7000 chip needs replaced on my Late 2011 Macbook Pro 15". (Green light and my battery does not charge).

My chip lists three rows of info. I've found sources online matching the first two rows.
                            i625
                            9AHRTZ
                            F130TK

                            1. What does the indo on the third row represent? Must it be identical?
                            2. Can I use a U7000 I find online or must I find a donor board?
                            3. Does Apple use the identical U7000 on many different Macbook Pros? My guess is Apple would...

Where does SMC_BC_ACOK come from U7000?
                            by macattack600
                            (820-3330). I'm wondering exactly where SMC_BC_ACOK starts at ?

I see on U7000 pin 14 it starts but If I have 0V does a bad SMC prevent it from coming from pin 14 ?

                            On pin 2 of r5087 I have 3.42 volts

                            Pin 1 is 0V

                            Hi,
I'm repairing an A1278 820-3115B and I notice that the U7400 is heating up...
Already replaced the IC and transistors and the IC keeps heating up.
Can anyone help to solve it?
                            Thank in advance
