Hi, i have a Apple MacBook with bit liquid damage, the Mac is running, but Webcam is not found in the system and not running. where is the IC vor the cam?
ore the areal?
thx
I found 3 parts defective, or rather 1 defective and 2 missing! The L8504 has burned out. And the two DB529 and DB504 are missing.
I get L8504 from a dispenser board and the other 2. Can someone tell me what the DB504 and DB529 are for?
1) you are working very late Be sure you are well rested for these micro surgeries of the logic board. Even with my rested eyes, these parts are very small.
2) L8504 is an inductor and intended to filter noise on the voltage rail. In a pinch, not required for operation. You can simply bridge pin # 1 and # 2 of the L8504 pads to complete the flow of the voltage from one side to the other to power your webcam logic board inside the display panel.
3) DB504 and DB529 are TVS diodes and they are quite small. They are intended to suppress any sudden voltage spike so that the controller IC that is interfaced to the USB connector does not get zapped. ESD diodes is the name for these parts and should you touch the connector with your fingers after walking across the carpet - that will make you look like Electroman and this zap is dangerous to low voltage logic onboard the macbook.
Again, in a pinch and if you are well grounded, these parts are not required for operation. However, I would suggest you source a bunch of them to replace the missing parts. They are too easy to lose during the operation so order some spares.
If you need to, send me a PM and we can look into drop shipping them to you from Arrow.com - we are supposed to have free international shipping with Fedex freight with Arrow. Otherwise, you can source from Aliexpress, etc.
Hello, yes it is the weekend. So have a drink or work on the Mac ;-). I have a couple of dispenser logic boards - that's where I found the parts. I'll solder them in later. Then the cam will definitely work again. And for the eyes I have an AmScope ;-) br
If the parts are not there, you must leave the pin pads open (floating). Without these parts, you do not have ESD (static discharge) protection for these lines. It is not a major issue since the USB signals are inside and on the logic board.
If you indeed source the replacement parts, solder them back in like normal.
If you were to short them, then the USB signals will be shorted and the camera will no longer function and may lead to other damage
The TVS ESD diodes are very common to source from Arrow.com or offshore (Aliexpress). If you are interested in the part # - post back and will locate some links for you.
ok thx
4 parts were still defective.
the 2 USB-C on the side where DB529 and DB504 are missing, RB631, RB641, RB651 and RB661 were all burnt on pin 2. I swapped all 4. I took the parts from the 820-00239. Now the 2 USB-C ports work again. It's closing time now.
