MacBook Pro 820-3476 random screen fickering

Hi, this MacBook Pro with 820-3476 motherboard presents random flickering.

It does even at boot screen pressing alt key at boot time.

I have tested a good screen, but random flickering is still present.

There are no signs of water damaged.

I have checked all main voltages with a digital scope, but it didn't catch anything.

    Any ideas about it?

    Thanks.

I forgot to mention that image is ok via hdmi.

It starts at the very beginning, and not increase with temperature, and it's the same whith battery or charger. (also only screen and motherboard connected)

Sounds like the lcd backlight is flaking out on you?

Check for the backlight rail voltage during these fluctuations. Also see if the enable to the backlight is stable during the same event.

We have no idea what you mean by flickering. Post video.

Hi moon, yes it is a real nightmare.

I have tested the following voltage/signals and found no fluctuations:

          EDP_BKLT_PWM

          PPVOUT_S0_LCDBKLT

          PP5VR3V3_SW_LCD

I have to test more signals on J8300, (edp connector) but it is difficult to test due to the random character of the issue.

I will make a video and post the link.

Sometimes the brightness of the screen fluctuates, and sometimes seems to lose vertical an horizontal sync.

It is difficult to explain, but there are no pixelation or blur.

Unfortunately the laptop has been returned to the customer without repair.

I wanted to do some more tests and a video, but customer wants a quick solution.

Anyway thanks a lot for your help.

The following brief video from Louis may be worth a quick view to see if you have a related case:

Hi mon2, this video from Louis is about backlight problem.

Did you copy the correct link or is there an error?

The title of the video I watched is:

820-2915 no backlight, 29v - how are we 29v w/ no brightness & how do we fix it?

i'm always learning from Louis videos, so is not a wasted time.

                      Thanks for your help.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

MacBook Air M1 A2337 Screen Replacement - keeping TrueTone
                          by MagJ_
                          Hello Everybody,

I have a cracked screen and want to fix it. Usually, TrueTone will be gone as long as one does not prune open the screen and exchange only the LCD. However, I have seen the following Youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBNqhp6p_ZM, Solve MacBook M1 Pro screen true tone issue from the channel Master Liu, where only two chips called "display control chip" and "code chip" are swapped over to the new screen. I know, it is for the MacBookPro version. Though, I had the hope that it could work similarly for the MacBook Air as well.

                          Hi there.

I have Macbook Pro 16" 2019, model number A2141, motherboard number 820-01700. I have some problem with dedicated graphic card. When Macbook switches to dedicated GPU it is getting instantly hot and starts to show glitches on screen, then it freezes (trackpad is not clicking anymore) and shuts down.
I tried to reinstall MacOS But it was a pain, it started to show glitches in middle of installation and I could not finish it. I only was able to reinstall MacOS when I put Macbook outside (it is winter and -2 Celcius).

Now situation looks like this, If...

Hi all , thanks for having me & I think this has been asked before but my case seems a bit odd.
I have a MacBook Pro , board 820-2915a and it turns on , chimes etc etc , keyboard lights up, fans spins , can turn caps lock on/off but screen is dead.
Iv tried the resets , shine torch through back logo , nothing , it seems the screen has no power. If I plug charger , it charges but if I disconnect battery it displays green light but won't turn on. Iv tried screen on with another board & it works & seems I'm not getting any voltage at pin 2 , next to ground pin .
                          is this...

When replacing the screen of this MacBook model, the DP855A chip must be moved from the existing screen for the screen to operate properly.
However, when I removed the DP855A chip from the existing screen, I must have done something wrong and the chip broke.
Testing the chip pins with a multimeter revealed a short circuit inside the chip.
Is it impossible to repair this? I couldn't find a programmer for this chip, nor any eeprom programmer software....
