A1278 820-2879 No 5v on PP5V_S5 only 1.5v

    A1278 820-2879 No 5v on PP5V_S5 only 1.5v

    Hoping someone can help me with with troubleshooting this board.

    Its an 820-2879 from A1278.

    Voltages all good at U7200 except at PP5V_S5 where im only getting 1.5v.

    I had a spark while disconnecting cables. Yes stupidly forgot to disconnect battery first.

    I could put a new U7200 on but waiting for a new rework station to be delivered.

    Anyone like to take a guess if ive a bad u7200 or should I be looking at something else first.

      Hello everyone,

      I'm working on a MacBook A1278 with the 3115 logic board and facing an issue with no PPBUS_G3H voltage. Here's what I've checked so far:
      1. U7000 Measurements:
        • Pin 3 has 0V, even though R7012 shows 16.5V from PPDCIN_S5_CHGR.
      2. Resistors:
        • I measured R7010 and R7011 with one leg disconnected, and both tested OK.

      Based on these findings, I believe U7000 needs to be replaced. However, I have a related question:
      • If I also decide to replace the SMC, do I need to order it pre-programmed,

      Hi guys, I have this macbook a1278 which doesn't have any image on the display, but when I turn it on I hear the chime.
      I found the L9008 choke open and reset it.
      When I turn on the macbook I have about 3v on pins 3 and 4 of the display so everything is ok but I still don't have the image.
      On the backligt pin 21 and 22 I have 0v but the fuses are all ok.
      What can I check?
      I tried another display from a macbook a1278 but from the previous year and it still doesn't work.​

      hi there i have a macbook a1278 core i7 board 820-2396a this board actually works fine i tried to remove the board to transfer it on other frame. when i turned it on screen has light but no image on it now i put it back to its original frame the same issue no image display but it has lcd lights on it. also tried memory change still the same. can you help me for this one.
