I have a mac A1466 with a log-in password, the password used according to owner and given to me no longer works. A bit of googling on youtube gives a solution where going into recovery (command +R) turns up the utilities and from there go into the terminal. My problem is that this mac will not go into the utilities, says that the hard drive is encrypted and asks for AppleID, which the owner supposedly doesn't know. What are my choices, do I have to erase hard drive and re-install? I know very little about Apples, mostly work on Windows. Can I get this AppleID from another device, hopefully owner has Apple phone?

Re: Macbook Air A1466 log-in password
I do get that a lot, people enable FileVault and zero understanding of what it is. Apple ask you during the setup process and people just click yes. As a result, you can't access anything on it till it's unlocked with the password. Apple allow you reset that via your Apple ID though.
So if the owner knows none of those, just wipe the drive in Disk Utilities and reinstall MAC OS. They lose their data but have a working Air again.

			by ritaloHello,
I have a MacBook Air 13 inches 2014.
I have set a EFI password and I can't remember it : now I want to reinstall macOS and I can't because the MacBook is asking for the password.
I know how to remove the password with a usb programmer.
I plug the usb programmer to the motherboard and to my pc with usb, I read the EFI and I save it to a file.
Then I have to find this value in the file : $SVS because it indicate where is the password.
But I can't find the value.
I have attached the file
Thank...-

by psdavid65I received a 2013 Macbook Air A1466 820-3437-B motherboard with serial number C02L6GQ9FSV8 that came in WITHOUT a bios chip. I got a new bios chip and reprogrammed it. Macbook now powers on but doesn't boot the SSD. I've flashed a ton of bios but still same problem. Windows installation works with this Macbook but never a mac installation. Unfortunately, since I didn't receive this macbook with a bios chip, I don't have the original bios. What can I do now?...

			by echothegamerHello all,
Working on my wife's 13' Macbook air. It's been in a box since she upgraded but I figured it could be good practice.
Details:
Macbook 13' A1466
Board (820-3209-A)
Battery OEM 7.3v 50Wh 6700 mAh (020-7379-A)
Pictures below of Boardview and schematic...
I don't know how to test the voltage on a MacBook battery. I just assumed it had an enable pin but the best I could read was 300 something mV poking around the battery connector.
It's an older model and it is very likely that battery has become... - Loading...
