A1989 820-00850 logic board does not complete start

    Hi,

    1. I have macbook pro 2018 with T2 chip here which is not starting.

    2. The board has none psychical damage, no liquid damage, looks like brand new.

    3. I bought this macbook, previous owner said that macbook suddenly stopped working and did not turn on again.

    4. I successfully restored it through DFU with apple configurator 2 and other macbook.

    5. When I apply a power, the system will spins the fans for second and then after approx 30 seconds again.

    6. No display at all, no startup chime. I have a trackpad click.

    7. I measured important power rails, which look fine.

    8. ALL_SYS_PWRGD is 1.8V exactly.

    9. The PPVCC_S0_CPU will go to 0.88V for time the fans are spinning and then 0V.

    10. Sometimes (1 try out of 10), the PPVCC_S0_CPU will stay at 0.75V with fans spinning.

Please advise me, what should I check next.

Re: A1989 820-00850 logic board does not complete start

I studied a1989 schematics little bit,

    I can assume, if I have all_sys_pwrgd signal ok, there will be problem either with U7100 or U7210, U7220, U7270, U7410, U7420, U7430.

It can be also bad CPU.

So I need to check all components around these IOs, measure some voltages and will post here.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

        Hi, Tony
I have run into the same problem. Did you find the solution?

Will I have a bricked logic board after reflow of the GPU v-core U8900 chip on my Mid-2012 15" Retina Macbook pro?
          by korben_dallas
Hi everyone! I'm trying to fix my black screen / failed U8900 GPU v-core on my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro 15" Retinaby doing a rework/reflow of the chip (once I determine that's the real issue; but it likely is).

I've been disabling the GPU in NVRAM for a few years... but it's just time for a better solution.

I'm new to soldering but the only feasible way to fix this issue is to do something myself.

          MY QUESTION:
I've been seeing some people (on this forum mostly) run into issues with the logic board needing a serial number or it being deactivated (?)...

M1 A2337 Macbook - No Display, likely due to logic board
          by ledbylight
          Hi all!
This is my first post and also one of my first "deep dives" into electronic repair. I'm used to doing basic tasks with computers, like SSD/CPU replacement, thermal past re-application, etc. So here's the story...
I have a MacBook Air M1 that I bought to repair (I know, I'm weird; though I'm a CompSci major and want to learn more , and it will not display anything on the internal display. I have verified that there's no backlight, as I booted the laptop and shined a flashlight on it and there's no display; it does completely boot up, and shows fine on an external...

MacBook Pro A1989 820-00850-A not powering on
          by ErinV
          Hey everyone!

I have a MacBook Pro A1989 with a 820-00850-A board that recently stopped working. I used it overnight to charge my phone, in the morning it didn't turn on, I assumed flat battery but now won't charge and doesn't start at all.

I have fully dissassembled it, when disconnected the battery reads at 0.012V. Even with the battery disconnected the laptop doesn't boot.

The diode voltages around all 4 CD3215's seem fine.

          For all CD3215 (UB300, UB400, U3100 and U3200) I read just above 5V on PP20V_USBC_TA_VBUS, 3.3V on PP3V3UPC_TA_LDO, 1.8V...

Macbook Pro A1989 - No image, working fine with external monitor
          by Madoy104
          Hi everyone,

I have a MacBook Pro A1989 that was likely exposed to liquid. It doesn't display an image on the built-in screen, but the screen is backlit (you can't see the Apple logo or any other elements when held up to light). The laptop provides 20V and 1.5-2A, and it works fine when I use it with an external monitor. Currently, the connector for the display (J8500) is disconnected. I'm writing to ask for help in diagnosing the issue. I've heard that when the J8500 is exposed to liquid, the processor pin responsible for the display might short-circuit, and I'd like to know...

          Macbook A1989, 820-00850, won't boot. 20V, 0A.
          by PITERPENY
Today I have a MacBook A1989 at work 820-00850. When assembled, the laptop switches to 20 volts but the consumption is 0.00 ampere. if the motherboard is on the table then the consumption of all ports is 5 volts and0.35 amperes and does not go to 20 volts only if you assemble a MacBook.
Here are some measurements, maybe someone can tell what the problem is.
The initial problem was a burnt out induction coil L8504 (replaced).
When connected to another MacBook, it constantly hangs in dfu and cannot install updates, something is wrong.
          here are some measurementsmotherboard...
