Acer Spin 5 SP513-51 New battery not charging

This laptop is not charging the battery, I am aware of the battery tactile switch on the bottom of the motherboard.

I have reset the BIOS etc.

I cannot find a boardview for this model - I suspect a faulty charging IC

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have not been able to find any motherboard ID, there is zero voltage on the battery pins and I have not been able to locate the charging IC.

There is a tactile switch on the bottom of the motherboard that needs to be pressed to allow the battery to charge - so it is difficult to measure anything battery related.

Update: There is an APL5930 - shown on the attached image but there is zero voltage on any pin.

The motherboard part number is on the other side.Its a Wistron DRIFT_KBL .

There`s a request for the boardview already but nothing has been posted yet....

Have you tested the switch to make sure its working ok.

Thank you for the reply, yes the switch is working.

If I hold down the switch and plug in the charger I get 12v on the battery connections for a few seconds then it goes to zero.

Seems fully charged

Check without adapter Plugin voltage gets stable?

NO, it is a new battery and has zero charge. The laptop will not power on without the charger.

The laptop will also not charge the old battery - initially I presumed the battery was needing to be replaced.

With charger plugged in no voltage on any pins.

Fine did not notice anyhow

I asked because you share ic which is a ldo regulator not a charging ic,

Take a big picture of motherboard and post here

Charging ic has markings starting with bq or bq24735 etc mostly

There is one chip that shows some damage but I cannot read the information on the top.

White dot mark on chip shows it is bios chip but it is working fine since laptop is functioning

Can you take picture of back or try to find number something like nbgkxxxx etc written in big size font
Can you verify it is drift skl motherboard
