macbook A1398 EMC 2674 no chime and black screen

Hi, I have a problem with macbook pro A1398 EMC 2674 (late 2013), after replacing ic Micron N25Q064A efi flash, it doesn't start anymore. when I press the power button the fans start, the screen remains off and makes no sound.
Could it be caused by invalid flash content? Have you ever had a similar problem? Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi,

First, why did you replaced it? What was problem before?
Second, what did you changed it for? Did you just reflashed it or you used another from donor board etc?

      Thank you for your answer,
the flash is from the original card which was too damaged. I was able to read the chip with a programmer and it seems ok to me unfortunately I lost the chip of the board purchased as a replacement which was working before.
      Tank you

As i understand, bios dump is from another board, so you need to flash Clean ME dump, you should find it in this forum, also make sure everything around bios chip is not damaged by your rework. Also if possible uploud photo of Bios area on board.

Cant see very well, but doesnt pins 2 and 3 have damaged Vias throu board? Check continuity from pins 2 and 3 to coresponding resistors.

Here attached are two photos a little better. Pin 3 goes to 3.3k pull up resistor, and the two? I also checked gnd and 3,3v and they are ok, for the other pins unfortunately I don't have the schematic, do you know where they are connected?
                Thank you so much.

Hi, a little update, I found the schematic of this motherboard and checked the connection to the flash and I'm ok. Miso and Mosi are set at 3.3v,I also checked with the oscilloscope that Miso and Mosi are set at 3.3v, there is no activity.

looks like u used a iron to desolder the bios chip. always use hot air for more then 2 pin component solder and use flux when desoldering and soldering it back.

Soldering iron is perfectly fine to desolder/solder SOIC8, just have to practice a bit on donor boards if you haven't done it yet.

Actually I removed it with hot air I soldered it with a soldering iron, only I did it at least 4 times to test the flash. In the end, I didn't clean the card well. I'm pretty sure the problem is in the flash content. Is there anyone who please, before I change it (I ordered one and I'm waiting for it) who can suggest me what else to check? It seems strange to me that with the oscilloscope I cannot see the clock on pin6. Thank you

Some flash need the correct otp data.

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                            Hey everyone.

I have a 820-3787-06 board from a MBP A1398 which has a screen issue. The problem starts with a bit of noise just like old TVs when booting and when the OS is on, screen jumps are added to the little noise on the screen. The jumps are millisecond and go back to the original place.

Since there's a little crack in the corner of the screen, I thought it has to be the display. But to my surprise it wasn't since I tried it with a fully functioning screen.

The same issue isn't happening with an external display. I did a gpu/cpu stress test on external...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
                            by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

Macbook A1398 - no startup chime, no boot, but have fans and CPU warm
                            by survivalbloke
Macbook A1398 - had repeating loop of startup chime with no actual boot. Just startup chime, then restart, start up chime, then restart, etc. I pulled the battery and cleared BIOS. It will now power up, fans on, CPU warming, but no startup chime and no boot. I reflashed the BIOS chip but the same thing happening. Where should I go from here?

MacBook Air M1 A2337 Screen Replacement - keeping TrueTone
                            by MagJ_
                            Hello Everybody,

I have a cracked screen and want to fix it. Usually, TrueTone will be gone as long as one does not prune open the screen and exchange only the LCD. However, I have seen the following Youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBNqhp6p_ZM, Solve MacBook M1 Pro screen true tone issue from the channel Master Liu, where only two chips called "display control chip" and "code chip" are swapped over to the new screen. I know, it is for the MacBookPro version. Though, I had the hope that it could work similarly for the MacBook Air as well.
