Help with bios programmer (EZP2019+)

I have an EZP 2023+, bios programmer which was able to detect the BIOS mentioned below.
But when I tried reading the file of the bios chips - 25q32f - from HP 455 g1, I couldn't get the bios bin. I then click on the device bar at the top of the bios software, I tried adding the specific BIOS, but all to no avail.
What else can I do to get the original bios dumb from the bios chips before formatting it. Is there any other software?Leave a comment:

I have successfully used the EZP2019+ to read and program my MX25L12873F. And successfully added it to the definitions table. Please see this post for details.Leave a comment:

Hi! Long story short - I wanted to remove supervisor password from BIOS (MX25L12873F chip). I have read BIOS using AFUWINGUI64 (8MB), edited and pressed write - AFU started erasing the chip and then it showed error. I didn't manage to write BIOS using AFU - not original, nor edited. Then I have rebooted - no post, only power light is on. I have disassembled notebook, connected EZP2010 programmer and read the chip (16MB) using EZP2011 v3.0 (chip was detected as MX25L12805D). I have replaced corrupted partly erased BIOS part from 16MB file to previously read 8MB BIOS. Still no post. EZP erases this chip, verification of erased chip passes, then EZP writes this chip and verification of written chip passes. I have afterwards read the chip and compared both files using VBinDiff - files are the same.
I have also tried another BIOS dumps found here from similar model - still no luck.
So the question is - I need another programmer for this chip? Could there be any problems with EZP taking into account that verification passes?Leave a comment:

Re: Help with bios programmer (EZP2019+)
I dump two files of the same bios chip with different speed (3 mhz and 12 mhz) now why are there differences when i try to compare them using hxd? Does it matter or it will not affect the dumpLeave a comment:

Re: Help with bios programmer (EZP2019+)
Hello I'm using the EZP2023, when I try to detect some chips the programmer shows me PLEASE MANUALLY SELECT THE CORRESPONDING TYPE BURN,. What does this mean?, and what should be the first thing to do whatever I come across this that message?. THANK YOU .Leave a comment:

Re: Help with bios programmer (EZP2019+)
NOT CONNECT
That's a driver problem.
Drivers are included with the software.
Go to Device Manager and look under USB
Install the driver for the EZP2019 programmer.
Problem solved.Leave a comment:

Re: Help with bios programmer (EZP2019+)
I'm trying to read a winbond 25q256 jve chip using the EZP2019+ directly on the mother board of my laptop using the clips provided with the controler.
However, I struggle to get the clip connection right given the small size of the chip. A few times I got a chip detected by the programer but it didn't recognize the right chip model. When I forced the correct model in the programer's settings and tried to read the chip it said it was empty :-(
Would you have any clue on how to get this right? Would it be relevant to play with the "Size" and "Pagesize" settings? (I've tried reducing the Speed but it didn't make any difference). Or maybe the programer is simply not compatible with that chip (but it is listed in the list of its chips...)?
Thanks for any tips...Leave a comment:

Re: Help with bios programmer (EZP2019+)
Post a pic of the socket with the IC and then also how you are seating into the programming tool.I have polaced the IC in a 150mil SOP8 SOCKET
We do not own this tool so learning from your pics and public postings.
We have built programming tools for similar devices and used the XMOS device which is like a FPGA controller. In short, after a few weeks, we could read/write/program the target Winbond devices in seconds using QSPI mode = Quad SPI mode. The technology is very mature and even a $1 USD micro can r/w/e such components. Guessing there is a simple fault somewhere.
Each flash device, as per industry spec, has a VENDOR and DEVICE ID inside the memory. Using the SPI interface, the programmer pings the memory to determine if it matches what the customer has selected in the s/w.
Can your software even read out the ID with your socket ? If not, there could be a seating issue of the adapter and the programmer tool.Leave a comment:

Yes Mon you are right i thought it was 1.8v chip.Leave a comment:

Re: Help with bios programmer (EZP2019+)
No I havent use an 1.8V adapter. I have polaced the IC in a 150mil SOP8 SOCKET and place the SOCKET in EZP2019+
I have tried in first 8 set and sencond 8 set (24/25/93) in EZP.
Can I update the readers protocoll database to read this IC?Leave a comment:

Re: Help with bios programmer (EZP2019+)
You can better buy the new ch341a programmer. Like this one and use beo programmer software on it then you can flash every bios chip.

Re: Help with bios programmer (EZP2019+)
W25Q128FV has a Vcc range of 2.7V - 3.6V
so 3v3 should be fine.
https://www.winbond.com/hq/product/c...rtNo=W25Q128FV
I am suspecting the use of an external adapter or conversion board should be carefully reviewed for the proper SMD to DIP translation. Do this before applying into the programmer to avoid permanent damage to the flash device.Leave a comment:

Do you use 1,8 V adapter for reading the chip otherwise you destroy the chipLeave a comment:

Re: Help with bios programmer (EZP2019+)
What can this POS support if it cannot handle such a simple device?? More e-crapware for the landfills...
Are you using their latest software?
Does it function properly with other devices?
Is the device listed in their database for Winbond memory devices?Leave a comment:

by STKR123Greetings badcaps community,
I havent done this for a long time and want to start it all again, after some evil and annyoing illness.
So I apologize in advance, if some phrases might sound a bit like gibberish or illogical to you.
Im trying my best to fully describe what I plan to achieve and hope I was choosing the right sub-forum for my new adventure.
I have a Elitebook 820 G1 and a Elitebook 840 G2 here.
These ask for a password when entering the BIOS, but boot just fine from the internal SSD.

My pc updated bios through Windows Update and I was greeted with BLACK SCREEN WITH CPU FAN MAX SPEED. I don't think there is even a screen signal, because it triggers my monitor for a couple seconds and then the monitor turns off. I tried the other outputs as well.
- I tried clearing bios, resetting bios, removed the CMOS battery, removed m.2 ssd, wifi, and ram. Still black screen with CPU fan blasting.
- I tried using the Lenovo BIOS CD and BIOS USB, but neither worked. At least I couldn't get anything to work.
- I could only locate two chips that look like bios chips. Could someone verify this

by macabookHello everyone,
I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
🧩 Initial Issue- Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
- External display (HDMI) shows
