    A1708 020-00840 liquid damage, no power

    Hi All,

    I'm working on a case for data recovery of an A1708 board 820-00840

    when I received the board it was doing absolutely nothing. I took some pictures of the corrosion and ultrasonically cleaned the board. this revealed some problem areas.

    no power via USB-C (stays at 5v 0mA, other port 5v 50mA)

    PP3V3_GH, repaired the circuit and now 3,4v present
    both CD3215 replaced, PPDCIN_3GH present at Q7030 (usb 5v 10mA)
    I did not trust the U7000 (weird impedance at Aux_det) so replaced it
    now Aux det is 1,2v and R7015, R7016 measure ok.
    now I get 5v and 40mA cycling at both USB ports, but ISL still don't want to generate PPBUS

    when I supply power to the battery terminal, (7v5) it takes 15mA and I measure this voltage also at F7000

    SMS_RESET_R_L = 3,4v at R7072
    PM_EN_P3V3_GH = 5v at R6999
    SMC_AUX_OK = 3,4v at R7071
    PP3V3_3GH_UPC = 3v3 at C3100 and C3200

    I read something about ISL92 that it should generate 12v3 at L7030, there is currently only ~200mv

    Any clues where to look for?

    Macbook A1708 - 5V/0A -no power- liquid damage.
    by martyjelen
    Hello, I have macbook a1708 with some liquid damage on PCB.

    I alredy tried to clean PCB with IPA. Stuck at 5V/0A

    PPBUS_G3H is missing > 0V

    I removed fuse F7000 to check voltage, but it's still the same > 0V.

    Diode reading on pad 1 is 576
    Diode reading on pad 1 is 460

    What should I check now? Thanks

    MacBook Pro 13inch 2017mid (A1706 820-00923-A) - liquid damage - USBC and Display short circuit
    by rilley
    Hello everyone,
    I am new into this, sorry to post it here. I want to make this as a pet hobby project, as this mac is not urgent.

    I have (Macbook Pro 13inch 2017mid) A1706 820-00923-A

    My mac had liquid damage a long time ago, the connector from J8500 is damaged on pin 46 (PP5V_S0_ALSCAM_F), I guess the LCD/display panel is in short circuit, as I saw the connector from the LCD burned as well.

    And the resistor L4004 is literally burned.

    From what I see from the schematics, it does not affect any other rails, only the connection to the display...

    MacBook A1989 overheating after liquid damage
    by Jenzo
    Hey everyone,

    Had a MacBook pro 13" 2018 (A1989) come in for liquid damage. The only liquid damage was all around UB400. It was most likely soda, so there wasn't that much corrosion. I reflowed the UB400 and the QB chips with some flux, and replaced the caps/resistors that were in bad shape. Seemed to be working fine at first, but the next day when testing it again, the laptop charges and boots fine, the CPU would overheat, and U7210 would get to 70 degrees Celsius as well. I'm testing with only screen and battery connected at this point.

    I can't figure out how...

    MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro Liquid Damage (820-02100)
    by mitchw
    Got a MacBook Pro M1 Pro 16'' to rescue immediately after liquid accident - I got it in less than 30 minutes after the spill.
    It got spilled from behind when the laptop was closed. It mostly affected the rear of the mainboard and the bottom of the LCD.

    I quickly took it apart and washed the liquid residue off the mainboard.
    The area around the UP800 had some light corrosion, but it just washed away with some IPA. Other areas looked undamaged.

    The mainboard got a thorough cleaning, as did the top case and LCD connectors / cables.

    Now the laptop...

    got here a liquid damaged alienware

    the laptop had damage in the area of the kb9542qf2 all sorted and now laptop working and turns on but i have no display

    so if i start and connect usb-c display it works otherwise it is giving me the 2red and 7blue

    so with the usb-c external monitor is getting to bios and OS

    otherwise not

    so if it is in the os and i connect another lcd via onboard hdmi it is working no problem 2 lcds (1 usb-c + 1 hdmi)
