    Macbook Pro 15" 2011 - Accident

    Hi All,

I wanted to do a major upgrade on my MacBook to give it a few more years of useful life.

I purchased an SSD drive and I was so happy with the improved performance that I sprung for 2 sticks of 4GB of RAM each.

Then I did a boneheaded move and accidentally dropped my screwdriver onto the logic board

I saw some sparks and this is the result:

I am not a tech and I have very little experience but I am very handy and, most of all, persevering.

I downloaded Board View and the schematic for my board 820-2915-B and I figure that I burned D6900. I would like to replace that component but I have no idea what it is and where to buy it from, would anybody here have a part number?

    Many thanks in advance.

    DeadGPUBook 2011…

Anyway, open schematics, find the component, find its characteristics. Or pull it from a donor board.
If you don't have the tools and soldering experience you should probably ask someone to replace it for you.

The MacBook was working fine before my mishap.

I opened the schematics but the search function in Adobe Acrobat reader finds no hits for "D6900".

My mistake, it is D6990.... would you happen to know the description of that part and / or part number?

          Thanks in advance.

You might like @piernov to confirm but I am pretty certain this is D6990

                From the schematics.

                SOT-323 size, dual diode.

                  Dear community,
this is my very first post, I am quite new to macbook repairs, and I am excited:-)

I have a 2011 MacBook Air 13' that does not power on. No fan spin, nothing.

                  Here are the specs:

                  MacBook Air Mid-2011
                  CPU: 1.7 GHz Core i5 (I5-2557M)
                  Model: A1369 (EMC 2469)
                  RAM: 4 GB
                  VRAM: 384 MB

                  The first question:
Unfortunately, it came with a 'fake' power adapter which seems not to talk to the computer. Sometimes it does show green light immediately after connecting it to the board,...

                  Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

Macbook pro 15" 820-2915-B 2011 A1286 boot on but black screen
                  by resistor83
Hi everyone, I have this 2011 MacBook Pro 15" model 820-2915-B which has a problem.
I turn it on, the startup sound is heard but the screen doesn't turn on, not even the backlight. The keyboard lights up after a while and the capslock works. If I press any key I can hear sounds as if the system is booting.

I thought it was a screen problem but after changing it the problem remains.

                  What could I do?

MacBook Pro 2011 turns on with keyboard light , screen dead
                  by Rav_tangle
Hi all , thanks for having me & I think this has been asked before but my case seems a bit odd.
I have a MacBook Pro , board 820-2915a and it turns on , chimes etc etc , keyboard lights up, fans spins , can turn caps lock on/off but screen is dead.
Iv tried the resets , shine torch through back logo , nothing , it seems the screen has no power. If I plug charger , it charges but if I disconnect battery it displays green light but won't turn on. Iv tried screen on with another board & it works & seems I'm not getting any voltage at pin 2 , next to ground pin .
                  is this...
