HP 6510b display backlight blinking and laptop shuts down

Hello! Straight to the issue:

Laptop working perfectly every day, until...
One morning it just does not work properly anymore...

Screen blinking (the backlight CCFL) randomly during the boot up process. Screen is definitely working, as everything can be seen, though very dim.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this at least to some precision? Flex cable? Inverter board? CCFL bulb?
Have only a multimeter for testing, basic knowledge and a lot of will.
Would like to know what exactly to order. Inverter board looks otherwise ok, but one capacitor(?) looks like it has had better days at the soldering points. Pictures attached.

Resolder the cap,use plenty of flux.If it still doesn`t work replace the inverter.Don`t try to test the output voltage,it dangerous,the voltage is very high.

FIXED

Resoldered the cap / resistor? Did not help.
Accidentally realized that the source of the problem was a faulty backlight switch / lid closure sensor. The little black switch just below the display connecror in the attachment photo. Due to age it started failing, making the laptop think the lid is closed / open / closed / open...

Due to lack of rime for a proper fix, I completely removed the internals of the switch. The laptop does not recognize closed lid state anymore, but at least the display works now perfectly, which is all I need from this laptop of such age.
