• Re: HP 6510b display backlight blinking and laptop shuts down

FIXED

Resoldered the cap / resistor? Did not help.
Accidentally realized that the source of the problem was a faulty backlight switch / lid closure sensor. The little black switch just below the display connecror in the attachment photo. Due to age it started failing, making the laptop think the lid is closed / open / closed / open...

Due to lack of rime for a proper fix, I completely removed the internals of the switch. The laptop does not recognize closed lid state anymore, but at...

Found a few coils with 0V power. Any ideas how to troubleshoot further? Clearly something with the power delivery?...

Would definitely be good if the only problem is the battery. I can order a replacement, but it is quarter the price of the whole laptop, so want to know 100% if that is the issue, or is it something in the charging circuit.
Is it so that these ultrabooks do not turn on without a battery? Used to those older types, that you can run with the charger plugged in. These cannot do it?

This is the hot chip in the attachment picture.

• Chuwi Lapbook SE not starting (x2)

Uhhh... Quite a story with these Chuwi laptops.
Bought 2 Chuwi Lapbook SE laptops. Great laptop... Until it stops working all of a sudden.

First one worked a week until it just shut off and never came back alive again. Locals said it was the CPU, but could not explain how they tested. One of these did not even disassemble the laptop. Just connected a charger (their own charger) and came back telling that it was the CPU. He might have also connected something to the HDMI port, but I saw only from far away, so not sure. After all of the local workshops had to send the motherboard...

• HP 6510b display backlight blinking and laptop shuts down

Hello! Straight to the issue:

Laptop working perfectly every day, until...
One morning it just does not work properly anymore...

Screen blinking (the backlight CCFL) randomly during the boot up process. Screen is definitely working, as everything can be seen, though very dim.

Video of the issue:

https://youtu.be/TJ8Lvba5peM

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this at least to some precision? Flex cable? Inverter board? CCFL bulb?
Have only a multimeter for testing, basic knowledge and a lot of...

The issue was in the CCFL lamp. Will replace it soon and report again :P

• Re: Samsung P2470HD Turns off

After some further investigation I decided to take some measurements of the power board and try to diagnose if one of the power trails to the ccfl lamps is not providing sufficient power. I tried to connect 2 connections at a time and all the results are in the picture, lines indicating the connector that were connected and the letters indicating the brightness of the display the second it boots up (after which it turns off as I previously explained). Abbreviations for the letters: N-none (no backlight at all) ; D - Dim backlight ; B - Bright backlight...

• Samsung NP300E5A display vertical lines

Hello! I have a Samsung NP300E5A with an LCD display of 15.6" (LTN156AT19-001) where all of a sudden vertical lines appeared. External video displays work correctly, both DVI and HDMI. Is there any way to determine whether the issue is in the video cable or the panel itself? Cost of the panel is so high that it is not viable to change it. The cable on the other hand is very cheap. I took the screen off of the frame to try to flex the cable while it is on, but moving cable doesn't give any effect. Also the lines are always the same, not less, not more.
Thank you for any help!...

• Re: LG 32LG3000 problem

Got it, I"ll replace the cotton with electrical tape, otherwise I guess I leave it like that, re-glueing must be done by the factory, I bet it is barely possible to be done at home. Thanks for the info though!

A little update: pointed a flashlight to the screen and the text of the menu is barely visible, so now I believe the problem is truly in the backlight. The problems began after the TV fell btw, but it was not a big fall and on the exterior of the tv there is really not a single sign of that. When the TV turns on, backlight lights up the whole screen and is as bright as normally would be, is that a sign that the light unit itself is operating correctly and some other part makes it turn off (fail-safe mode)? What should I look for now?

• Samsung P2470HD Turns off

Hello! Got a Samsung LCD TV model: P2470HD which acts as following: Turns on, displays menu for 2 seconds, goes black... Sound effects of the touch buttons on the TV work, buttons themselves work, TV does not react, trying to change input source does not have an effect. Turn off and on again same thing repeats. Have been reading that this is commonly caused by a backlight problem, how can that be diagnosed? Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

• Re: LG 32LG3000 problem

Found the problem after disassembling the whole TV into parts. The issue is in the ribbon cable on the board in the upper section of the LCD where the T-CON gets connected to. Seems like it has been damaged somehow, although visually everything seems ok. What helped was that I put some cotton between the board and the cable to stretch the cable a bit. TV works as following now: Turns up only on a the second try, but after that everything works correctly and moving the TV does not create any problems. Anyone has a suggestion on how this can be fixed correctly?...

LG 32LG3000 problem

Hello! Got an LG LCD TV which has a following problem:

Half the time TV works correctly, then suddenly the picture will become all broken and might freeze and become cracked. Below some examples of the image. Then when the TV is touched a little the picture will jump around and after some tinkering a position where the image becomes normal again, can be found. After that the process repeats irregularly. Anyone has a suggestion where to look for? I suspected loose contacts, tried re-seating - no effect. Now I suspect the soldering, but as I am not experienced with electronics I want...

Got the TV fixed! Ordered a repair kit for Z-sus board from Shopjimmy.com

LG EBR73561701 (EAX64232101) ZSUS Board Component Repair Kit (cost 25 euros)

Got everything that was in the kit replaced by a professional (cost 60 euros)

Now working flawlessly Thank you Hamie and TW2005 !!!

• Re: LG 60PZ950S weird problem

Want to update on the progress so far... Took off the Z-sus and yes indeed soldering of the coils was damaged like in the picture. The board itself looks darker around the coils probably because of the heat. Went to a repair shop and asked those contacts to be re-soldered, but that did not help a single bit.
Now I searched for a replacement board but cant find one, out of stock everywhere. Product numbers are: EBR73561701 and EAX64232101

However managed to find two repair kits:
