Re: Lenovo ideapad 110 no power
I'll look for a schematic and get back to you.
EDIT:
I attached the schematic. Took me 3 minutes on google.
+5VALW is generated by PU402
+5VALW_EN (Pin 12) has to be high
5V_VIN (Pin 2..5) has to be around 20V
+5VALW_EN derives from EC_ON_R which has to be high in order to enable PU402 output.
+3VALW is generated by PU401
EN1 (Pin 12) has to be high
+3VIN (Pin 2..5) has to be around 20V
EN1 also derives from EC_ON & EC_ON_R which have to be high in order to enable PU401 output.Last edited by KvnTM; 10-30-2019, 11:03 AM.Comment

Re: Lenovo ideapad 110 no power
In some cases, 3V/5V ALW rail will come up only after power button press. Not sure about this platform.Comment

Im pretty sure he was smart enough to press the power button thoughComment

Re: Lenovo ideapad 110 no power
is +5VALW present? Since it receives the enable signal. If not also measure resistance of that rail to gnd.Comment

Re: Lenovo ideapad 110 no power
Does anything else get hot on the board?
What I would do now: Lift one pad on the inductors and inject 3.3v in the 3ALW rail and 5v in the 5ALW rail. You could also completely desolder the inductor. Inject voltage into the "output" side of the coils. Either something is drawing a lot of current which heats up PU402 or the chip itself went bad and desoldered itself due to the excess heat.
Limit the current to something like 300mA in the beginning to avoid burning a trace on the board!
I bet something is drawing a lot of current somewhere. The output fets are in the chips which would subsequently heat up when there is a big load on the rail. It could also have failed internally.. You can tell after injecting voltage into the rails.Last edited by KvnTM; 11-01-2019, 08:33 AM.Comment

Re: Lenovo ideapad 110 no power
You said that 5ALW was present on PL402 and now it is gone again?
Both sides of the inductor should read about the same voltage. There should be no significant voltage drop across an inductor like this. They have a resistance next to nothing.
Or did you mean 0.96V and 0.78V ? You wrote 0.96mV which would make no sense.
If 5V was present when the chip was heating up extremely and there was no significant current draw while injecting 5V into it replace the chip. It is most likely damaged.
The 3.3V rail is fine now?Comment

Re: Lenovo ideapad 110 no power
Or did you measure across the inductor?
You could also make a little drawing or take photos what you are measuring. It is hard to understand what you are doing...Last edited by KvnTM; 11-01-2019, 09:16 AM.Comment

Re: Lenovo ideapad 110 no power
Next thing to try would be opening PJ406 with the inductor soldered to the board. This would allow the rail to go to 5V without any load attached to it. Please try that.
PJ406 is a big solder jumper on the board. Looks like a solder blob.Comment

by Dr.dI have a lenovo ideapad 5 14itl05, board LA-K321P, That will only power up on Battery only, or with battery disconnected and power adapter only. If battery is connected and usb-c power plug connected. It only works on battery and will not charge. I can however force it to charge by connecting the battery from a disconnected state while the power USB c plug is powering the laptop.
Additionally....to add to this strange situation. The usb-c power plug ONLY works to power the laptop on one side when inserted into the boards power usb c plug. If you rotate it 180 degrees, the board gets... -
Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Check the main power rail for 20v input ok
No amper input from Power supply 0.013a

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by zwectI got this Lenovo laptop where it wouldn't boot in any way, i tried reflashing the BIOS but nothing has changed.
Keyboard lights up for about 8 seconds then turns off and only the power button remains lit.
Fans spin for about 3 seconds and only the CPU seems to receive power, but only slightly, PCZ195 feeds it around 1.1v and those main cpu rails are reading about 3.7Ohm
Nothing else on the laptop seems shorted or wrong. But only the CPU tries to turn on when pressing the power button.
should i suspect a bad CPU or are those mobile Ryzen 6000's about 4ohms too?
laptop's...08-15-2025, 09:52 PM - Loading...
