Was hoping for a little more help and/or some advice. The motherboard is an 820-4924-a (schematic and board view included) I had a few shorts and repaired them. When checking voltages they're off, PP18v5_dcin_conn_r is at 16.3V. Also on PPVIN_G3H_P3V42G3H is getting the same 16.3volts, ppbus_g3h_r is at 12.9v. I replaced U7090, c7090, c7091and c7092 (one of the caps was shorted to ground) the short was causing r7020 to smoke, replaced it and fixed the short now voltages are off...

Re: Macbook 2015 motherboard help!
SMC not communicating with Magsafe then.
Try another Magsafe2 60W/85W and another DC-in board, and check voltage on PP3V42_G3H, SMC_RESET_L.
Measure exact voltage on PPBUS_G3H (12.xxV).OpenBoardView — https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardViewComment

Re: Macbook 2015 motherboard help!
Tried both a 60w and an 80w MagSafe no change. Voltages for the following are; pp3v42 = 3.42v , voltage for SMC_RESET_L = 3.38V and the voltage for PPBUS_G3H = 12.29v will try another dc in board as well...... Tried another DC in board , same result, solid low light stays on....Comment

SMC is not turning on. If there is any liquid damage near the SMC, you can try to reflow it.OpenBoardView — https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardViewComment

by mcnamj70My Macbook air 2015 (00165A motherboard) has a strange fault.
When I plug in the charger the laptop immediately switches off.
The battery still charges when off and I can reboot the laptop with the charger connected and all appears fine until I disconnect then reconnect the charger and the problem appears.
Tried resetting PRAM/SMC and even changed the I/O board but problem appears to be on the motherboard so looking for ideas to fault find. -
by twonk9098I have read many forums that state the Macbook Pro 2015 needs / does not need a battery to boot. I'm not convinced as yet which is correct.
The Macbook Pro mid 2015 I have has no battery and do not really want to buy one just to test.
This model has the newer trackpad which is not clickable when turned off.
At the moment, without battery it does turn on with no display (with backlight), no chime and then turns off after 13 seconds. I see this from the power draw on my DTPS.
If I hold the power button whilst connecting the magsafe 2 charger it turns on, again no image but... -
by KristionHi there, I had a MacBook Pro 13" 2020 A2251 at work, and it suddenly stopped working without having being bad to it (I ride my bike everyday though). I replaced the motherboard so now it works again, but with other data. I would like to repair the 661-15938 motherboard. I spotted where it burned, I saw that there is a post where there are the 820-01949 pdf and bvr but I don't know what to do with it. I tried to install OpenBoardView because it seems like it's what I should use to have a look at the schematic view of my motherboard. But I failed:

Hello everyone,
I'm currently diagnosing a MacBook Pro A1707 motherboard that does not power on. I've gathered some data but am stuck and need expert advice.
Note that i'm a beginner in electronics and i'm trying to learn while trying to repair this macbook that my work gave me. I'm really curious and love understanding how thing works and i already learned so much.
Only one usb c port is taking 20v and have 12.5v on PPBUS_G3H. when trying other ports, 2 are not going to 20v and one is going to 20v but the CD3215 is getting really hot.

by envymHi everyone!
I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.
I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...06-27-2025, 08:54 AM - Loading...
