Hi this board has a bad step down voltage regulator ic so I ordered the IC then change it but it keeps shorting again

You probably have some shorted component or if it was burnt, then ground issue. Check resistance specially on pin 5/7/8 -

No short to ground on +3VLP, +3VALW or any derived rail?OpenBoardView — https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardViewComment

Re: Z5WAH LA-B162P keeps burning its PU401 IC
There is some short on some rail-thats for sure. Short doesnt mean zero resistance always. Like say VIN of an IC is 19V and normally it should show infinity in diode mode but for some short it may drop to say 700-800 and this will keep IC burning. 3V rail as suggested by piernov is the likely shorted rail.
Open jumper PJ401 and measure resistance on both sides of jumper.Last edited by mcplslg123; 06-07-2019, 04:24 AM.Comment

Re: Z5WAH LA-B162P keeps burning its PU401 IC
i have a simmilar problem, the board is dead,i have 3V and 5V,and when i short 2 pins on the power button board that go to the hall sensor, laptop works and charges the battery, but the PU401c gets hot, when i remove the short it powers down...no shortcircuit on the board ....anyone found out something about this problem?Comment

Hey....
Board as written in description was stuck at VGA LED. common Problem wit these type of bords.... tried all the "standard stuff" like resettin... reseatin.... found out the LED Controller MCU1 = IT8295FN-56A geting burning hot under the last PCI Slot.. now i desoldered it cause there were only 18 ohms at the caps arround.... another aorus x470 in working condition with similar part and nearly same layout had arround 280 ohms...
my question is: why doesnt the board start know without this chip.... worked myself through the boardview but i can´t understand... -
by klynstronicHi Hi.
Can you help me? The boardview of the DA0G3DMBCE0 REV:E motherboard says that the PU401 IC is a MP86903C...however this is a TQFN21. The PU401 is a TQFN13 and the MP86901-AGQT-Z IC is TQFN13.
Am I correct? Or is it a different IC?
I would appreciate an answer.
Regards.

Hello to all.
I have this Sony Vaio QUANTA HK1 DA0HK1MB6E0 MBX-247 that is burning the NUVOTON EC when you connect it to power supply.
1) The +3vpcu line is going to a direct short after connecting the motherboard to power supply.
2) I discovered the EC NUVOTON was shorted. After removing it the short gone out on that line (+3vpcu) but... (If i quit the EC the 3.3v are pressent on +3vpcu because the shorted component was quited)
3) There were no shorts after soldering the new EC NUVOTON. But after connecting the board to power supply the EC keeps burning...05-07-2022, 05:24 PM -
by howardc64Only 3 years old. Owner said backlight went out and burning smell. Didn't bother plugging in to check if had power LED. Just opened the TV rear and found shorted bridge rectifier diode on the backlight circuit on the PSU. SF26G (400V 2A super fast recovery rectifier link ) diode replace with SF26 (what I had on hand) Google AI said G = Green Components.
Burn looked pretty bad on the board but just was blackened carbon coating material. Scraped and cleaned off quite well and clean solder pad for the new diode.
