    2018 dell precision 5520 bios chip?

    hello,

    i have a 2018 dell precision 5520 and am attempting to flash bios. i can't find much information on this laptop, but what i can find tells me i'm looking for a W25Q128. i can only locate the following winbond chips:

    Q80 in SOIC8
    Q32 in SOIC8
    Q256 in WSON8

    i figure at this point one of the following is true:

    1) despite having pulled the board and looked under everything (ssd, wlan, heatsink, riser board, etc) i'm dumb and can't find it
    2) the information i've sourced is inaccurate and likely referring to inspiron 5520 or latitude e5520

    has anybody been down this road before?

      i'm not dumb, at least not in this instance....

      it turns out that this precision shares the MLB with XPS 15 9560

      Intel 7th Gen,CAM00/01 LA-E331P Rev: 1.0

      i have Intel 7th Gen,CAM00/01 LA-E331P Rev: 2.0

      hope this helps somebody else along the way

          Hi,

          My Dell Precision T7910 died after enabling onboard SAS controller and applying RAID settings. There were no hardware changes between working and not working state, only setup (via bios -> controller settings). After applying settings and reboot PC turns on, flash leds (normally) but there's no further action, it just stays on with no graphics and no keyboard led's on. There's no Dell logo, nothing.           Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

          Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

          I bought a DELL Precision 3660 Tower Workstation from a second-hand seller. After bringing it home, I found out it was actually a testing unit. The BIOS cannot be upgraded (only the ME and PD2 sections are upgradable), and there are test messages displayed during boot, which really affects the user experience.
